This is the dual sport I has hoping for. Sad
It was going to be a beater when I first saw it, then I took a rag to it and some Never-dull and I realised that the bike is in pretty good condition.
The previous owner painted the bike Kaw green and covered the side cover with a graphite mat and spayed at least 20 layers of clear coat over that. He did a really nice job but I'm thinking about painting it the stock Candy Presto Red or as close as I can get to that. I'm hoping to get an old 550 seat and trim the foam to get rid of that camel hump look. musicboohoo

I have NIB crash bars for it and a grab bar (that I may or may not put on) but I guess I'll leave the bike in stock form or at least have the stock parts for it then buy a newer bike.

 Anyway, here it is.

After it's painted, it would look pretty slick with a solo seat.

Nice looking bike, can't fault you for wanting to paint it though.  With the color it is now, I'd expect to see that green villian from Spiderman riding it.

It looks like the paint job was really well done. Color choice wouldn't be my first, but hey, if its what you like.

The candy apple red would be a nice choice if you were to repaint it. I've always been a fan of that color on the 650.

The rectangular headlight on a swoopy bike always looks weird to me.
I like the green, and the matching accent on the engine is a nice touch.  Also love the chrome front fender.
The stock seat is flatter?  That would look sleeker, IMHO.  Lower handlebars would be sportier.

Hey Tim, I see you read my post about the bike carefully. Hap1
I was thinking about hot pink!!

I like the green as well just because the painter did such a nice job but I feel Kaw green does not belong on a Honda.... my Honda anyway.
That's the stock seat which I want to keep but I want one to flatten "some" simular to the 650 seat. I have been thinking about lower bars due to my moto-Xed spine.   musicboohoo

look at my bike to see what horrors befall someone with lower bars! yikes

I have superbike bars in the mail, I could let you know how they turn out when I get them, I just wanted a sportbike too much... my bike is now living someplace between rat rod and cafecruiser lol

Yeah that would be cool if you'd let me know what works.
It'll be awhile before I buy any though, I think my engine is going south on me. I keep getting less and less miles after an oil change before the engine starts knocking. Sad

The seat is staying on for much of this summer, my wife won't ride with me any more but that doesn't deter others. beer

I'm not sure I want to go that low but I wouldn't mind going more outward over the gauges. I'm wondering if I'll have enough seat room with low bars. I'm fighting for space as it is, that's another reason I was hoping to find a 650 parts bike.... I can stretch out on it.
I rolled the bars up some from where they were set when I got the bike but they feel like ape hangers now. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind mild ape hangers just not on this 550.

I was wondering if your bars looked really far forward, I ditched mine because they were slightly crooked and the angle of the grips hurt my wrist

I always liked my bars way forward, just a habit from my hill climbing and Moto-X days.
