Ja goed plan, maar eerst m'n rijbewijs halen...  gerg

Er staan 16k+ miles op de teller.

Bestaan er eigenlijk ook tellers volledig in KM/H ipv Miles?

Google translate says:  Yeah good plan, but first get my license ... There are 16k + miles on the odometer. Are there actually counters fully KM / H instead of Miles?

Do I understand the question to be: Do they make odometers/speedometers that go by kilometers instead of miles? My responce to that would be: I had a Kawasaki snowmobile made for Canada that did.

Probeer te zoeken de Canadese eBay, misschien kun je gewoon kunt vinden wat u zoekt.

Vertaald met Google, want ik spreek geen Nederlands. Sorry bij voorbaat voor de fouten.

Translation:
Try searching the Canadian eBay, you might be able to find just what you're looking for.

Translated with Google, because I don't speak Dutch. Sorry in advance for the errors.

The last thing I expected to see in a picture taken in Holland is a late-70's Mercury....putting petrol in it must be very expensive.

Aaw, how sweet, you guys were even trying to help in dutch  Hap1

16000 is heel erg netjes hoor.

Every vehicle that was build before 1987 is excluded from road tax over here. For a motorcycle that translates to about a 100 bucks a year, but for a vehicle like that Mercury it'll probably save the owner about 1500 to 2000 euro's a year at least. Our road tax classifications are based on vehicle weight and the kind of fuel a vehicle uses. Certain modern fuel efficient cars and hybrids are also excluded from those taxes or get a nice discount at least. Since the Merc is free of road-tax the owner also wouldn't have to pay the extra taxes to have the fuel system converted from petrol to gas (not sure if it's exactly butane we use here, but it does come close. I don't know the correct name for it in english, sorry) which is about 50% cheaper here than regular petrol if I'm not mistaken. It's about the only way it's somewhat affordable to ride those kind of cars over here, but it is doable if one really wants to.

Propane? We have a few government-issued vehicles that run on propane.

Also, most cars made here in the USA back in the '70's and '80's are usually oversized, heavy junk. Quality was a joke, but they were more reliable than most French & British built cars during that time.

Current fuel prize is E1,63 a liter.
That's $2,33 a liter.
And that is about $8,82 a gallon (US).
In other words: No Mercury for me!
But if you let it run on liquefied petroleum gas (lpg), it sure saves you some money.

Aye. There are a lot of 'Big Americans' that are converted to LPG running; normally you'd pay extra road tax, but since it's a car that's pre 1987, it's free of road taxation. LPG is dead cheap stuff though... just not sure it's good for the valves or anything.

I always wanted a 'foute' old Mercedes, just to run it on LPG.

Yeah me 2.
I was looking for a Merc 280TE, but it isn't high enough for me to transport stuff around, so I'll stick with my Citroën Berlingo 2.0HDi  super

Last year I drove my 86' 750sc to France 3 times, after which it stayed in a garage for about 6 months.

I took it out last week and it started in seconds, lovely.

Brought it to the honda shop since i dont have space or time to handle the wrench myself. Getting some new tires, spark plugs, fluids etc.

Ill try to post more this year :P maybe some roadtrip pics from France.  Once you get off the toll highway its overwhelmingly beautiful.

greetings hawkers ricky

Appearently the hawk was screaming for maintenance:

Throttle cable was hanging on a few threads
Choke cable broke
Rear brake shoe almost came loose ( came loose after removal)

And they refilled, adjusted and replaced a lot....

I paid more for this service than for the bike itself, o well maybe that makes sense. Im glad i wasnt on the highway when that brake shoe came off the segment, that could have been fatal.

Which tires did you get?

I just got a Bridgestone BT45 front tire and apparently my rear tire needs to be replaced, soon! So I'll get a BT45 rear to match it :)

A couple of days ago I noticed that my cardan was leaking.
Turned out that the plug had 2 cracks...

Yeah I guess.

My throttlecable just broke yesterday.
I was wondering where you got your fresh cable from?
I want to replace both push and pull cables completely (inner and outer cable).

Hi, cmsnl got a throttle cable for € 31,- can't you use that one? Perhaps check the OEM number on cmsnl ans ask your Honda dealer. Can't imagine there isn't a cable that fits.

The cables at CMSNL are soled out.

I also can't imagine that no other cable will fit.
I'm pretty sure that all cables will fit because Honda rather likes to use 1 type of cable instead of 20 different ones.
The only difference, i guess, is within length.
All connections are the same!
