Hello!

Having some electrical problems.  It seems as though the connection between my ignition and its harness is loose.  Sometimes when I turn the key there is no power.  I have to juggle the key in order for the power to come on.  If I cut the handlebars hard to one side power will occasionally cut out.  Harness is plugged in tight to the bottom of the ignition, but something still seems loose.

Bike runs great with the exception of this problem.  Battery is new, stator is new, regulator is new.  I am thinking I may need to replace the ignition, but I don't really want to have to do that.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

I think I'd just bite the bullet and do it. It's not very hard and the switches can be had for not too much. I had an '83 750 with the same problem.

check the other end of the harness too. I wrap the larger box connectors with tie wraps on mine. Like skramer said, those switches go bad...it's common.

You can separate the electrical hardware at the base of the keyswitch. Remove, inspect, clean, reassemble.

I have the same problem on my 82 750. When I crank the bars hard left the engine cuts out. I fixed it by cleaning the connections then zip-tying the ignition over tight to the left side (can't recall off the top of my head to what, but I'll check that). I know its not a permanent fix (still get a loss of power every now and then but only when cranking hard left to back up), but it works for now and prolongs me putting a new ignition in.
