So I've had my 1982 450 Nighthawk for a couple of months now, and just took it on it's first long (4 hour) trip, and well... My butt is sore as hell! I've looked online for aftermarket seats but I haven't found any luck. Does anyone know where I can get a more comfortable seat for my 450? or am I just s.o.l?

Thanks

I bet if you called a seat upholster that they could use something like hi density memory foam on it, then cover it with whatever material you want.

From pictures, the 450 seat looks identical in shape to my 650.  It only has two bolts, just under each side cover.

If you measure the distance between the bolts, and the length of the seat maybe we could help you get a better idea if one from the 650 would work.  If thats the case, you can go with a Corbin seat.

Thanks for the tips guys... I just measured the bracket on the bike that the clamps from the seat go into. From hole to hole its about 6.5". is that the same as the 650's? If so, I think I might go with a corbin seat. Man, this really is a great first bike. Oh, I painted it, and the exhaust, and put some brand new tires on it. Here's a couple of pictures... And you can't notice the huge tear on the seat, its on the other side. I take pictures from the good side, haha. I bought the bike with 3k on the clock 2 months ago, and now its sitting at 4,300. What can i say, its fun.

Looks like I'll go with the Butt Buffer, the Corbin seat was just too much for me right now.
The BB looks like a good deal.

For my 450 hawk bobber build, I used the original seat for my solo seat.  I tore off all the old stuff, took a grinder to the passenger part side of it and cut corners on the back.  Then I took a free crib matress I had apart and duct taped that foam in place, cutting and shaping with a cheap pair of scissors.  It was actually kinda neat, cause the matress had a layer of thin foam (1/4"), with what looked like carpet padding beneath it.  Taped it all to the pan, and then stapled the leather jacket covering to the pan, trimmed the excess tape with a razor and called it good :)
