Libertyville, IL to Waterford, WI

It was such a nice day today, seven of us headed up to the county roads of southern Wisconsin; 117 miles round trip and four or five roundabouts.

I share your pain with a grid like road structure. Great for driving, not so much for riding. In Michigan, we hug the coast if we want some curves. But there is nothing challenging about them. Scenery is the bigger draw.

And yes, that barn is creepy!

There were some nice curves on the way to Waterford. The GPS really helped with "seeing" well ahead of time how severe the next turns were. That left a few extra milliseconds to decide how to handle the gravel! It was everywhere! And if there wasn't gravel in the turns, there was cow poop spread across the roads where farmers moved their herds here and there. I actually laughed out loud when the group leader pointed at the debris with both legs at the same time.

Very nice writeup. There are several members here in the WI/IL border area. We've been doing a one-day ride annually for the last few years. The last couple are in the Great Lakes Regional sub-forum. Please join us - we'll put you in charge of ride reports haphap.
