93 NH750 Scrambler Build (UPDATE)
« on: January 08, 2016, 07:43:20 AM »
Hey all, new to the site.  Just started my 93 build.  Swapped the front end with a 2012 Yamaha r6.  Waiting on some powdercoated parts.  Any advise or criticism is welcome.  I will continue to post photos of progress.

Ugh, on the fence with the red pinstripe.  Any thoughts?

Nice start! I am in the middle of the same thing! If you are looking for some Pod air filters, I have some brand new ones, that I will not be using. Let me know if you are interested in buying.

i'm into the pinstripe as long as it fits your end color scheme and you get a matching rim for the back!
any trouble swapping the stem for the front end? pondering my own conversion, wanting to make it as painless as possible.

Agree.  Maybe a little too soon to decide the pinstripes.  The above pic is the rear.
Of course there was issues mounting the front forks.  The guys at cognito moto fabricated a stem for me.  Just sent them my 93 lower triple and they took care of the rest.
Just got the tank done. I will post more pics soon

Update

Also, I'm not a fan of the red pinstripes on the wheels.  The rear is a sticker so it will be easy to remove.  The front is the problem. It's painted and cleared over.  Any help on removing would be appreciated.

Front pinstripe?  My recommendation is to hold out til you got more color scheme in mind and then put a sticker stripe over it.  Perhaps a greyish or something.  Can use wide black to mask else you are putting down coin for a paint or dip.  Both requiring remounting of wheel.

My back hurts just looking at those bars.  Other than that, I really like where you're going with this.  Reminds me of the walking dead bike but more better

Ha, I was thinking the same thing.  If I go with handlebars then Im looking at replacing brake lines etc.  Going to see how it goes with the clip ons first.

Nice. Classified Moto inspired?

Mine is similar (XS650 tank etc.) but I've got the standard front-end, not R6.

How did you tackle the yoke issue?

In the planning stages of a similar build. Yours is looking great. I have a few questions.

What size tires front & rear?

Is your XS650 tank single or dual petcock?

Are you using the stock length rear shocks?

What did they charge you for that stem and do you have a phone number?  Did you need special bearings?

Hey Bud.
Tires 120/90-17 front  150/70-17 rear
Single petcock on the tank
Planning on replacing shocks with progressive.  Want to see how it sits before I purchase
The guys at Cognito moto did the stem.  Had to send them my old one.  They charge $240 plus shipping.  Includes bearings and yes you need bearings.  .  Check out their site.

I see all balls sells conversion bearings. What is keeping the stock stem from working with the AB bearings? Just curious.

Stem length.  The stock stem is a little over an inch shorter that the R6.
