My First
« on: March 03, 2016, 07:47:13 AM »
Hi there,
I just got my Yellow 1996 on Friday with just under 36k on the clock. I've had my license for years and ridden borrowed bikes a fair bit, but this is the first one I've owned. The classic looks, the simplicity and reliability, and the combination of power and smoothness made it an obvious choice. Now I want to join the motorcycle community, and specifically the Nighthawk community. I'm looking forward to this!
Thanks!

Welcome.
I'd love to see your bike in yellow but the pic doesn't seem to show up.

Same for the picture.  I tried manually entering the URL and no avail.

That said, riding for years?  Then ya know what you want.  Nighthawks got awesome balance, serviceability and rideability without being boring!  Engine is tough to beat!  750 or the 250?  Both stellar for their purposes.

I've tried, but I can't upload, and my hosting sites all result in just the icon.
Is there a waiting period before I am allowed to upload or something?

Still no pic.  Looks like it could be a privacy setting?  To keep down forum storage costs, there is no direct upload of pics.  i like imgur to upload pics I want to share.

Welcome to the NHF 16x.  Great looking 750.  What kind of exhaust is that?  Wheels look great.  Are they chromed?

Thanks Hog Dog! The exhaust is a 4 into one with a Kawasaki silencer of unknown origin. It's quiet, with a deep rumble at idle. The wheels are chromed.

Alright.  Enjoy the ride.  Hard to beat the smooth Honda inline 4.

Only thing I have found is Honda inline 6.  ridn2

But they be maintenance queens  mad1

For straight up ride when you want, where you want,  that bike will be tough to beat.  Is a reason why people hunt pretty hard for a good hawk and can fetch a premium wheb compared to other bikes of the era!

I come from an Rx-7 history, so I've been down the high performance / high maintenance road.
It was worth it at the time though!

High performance for your mistress, but nighthawk is the one you take home to stay.

So I looked up the number on my muffler and it's a KHI K 448 from a Kawasaki ZRX1200. Kind of makes me wonder about the story behind that.

No doubt.  Looks good on the NH, but I prefer the stock balanced look with a 4-2.  I had a Vance & Hines 4-1 on my 1st 750 that sounded great.

I would tend to agree on the stock balanced look, but not so much that I'm willing to spend the money to swap it back.

Just an FYI, I updated the posts where the attempts to show the image did not work.  Cleans it up a bit so people can see the bike in the first post rather than having to scroll down to see it.

Thanks for that, I hope I wasn't too slow a learner!

Not a problem.  Google Photos doesn't always work well for hosting.  Same with Microsoft One Drive.  You can do it, but you need to be pretty web savvy.  It's not worth the hassle.  Imgur, Photobucket, Flickr are good alternatives.
