I have a friend with a 79 cb650.  He says it won't start when cold unless you pour gas down the carbs manually. But then once it's warm it runs fine. He has cleaned the carbs.  Any ideas on what it could be?

Its the carbs. If they are not dirty, then the choke function might not be working properly.

How, exactly, were the carbs cleaned already?
