91 Nighthawk 750 "cafe inspired" build
« on: July 24, 2016, 06:18:01 PM »
Picked up my first motorcycle about 6 months ago, took a while to decide but ended up choosing a nighthawk as my first bike to learn on and to mess around with. These bikes may not get a lot of praise for being all that good looking but they really have grown on me[/URL]img]

Working hard on the bike lately and thought I'd post a more current picture.

Installed the new tank and airboxes and relocated the battery

Chopped the rear frame off and added some fork boots

Where did you put the battery?

I put it in the front of the rear swing arm. There's a nice little cutout there and the stock Battery fits perfectly. I'll probably move it underneath my seat at some point but this works great for the meantime

Well done.  Coming along nicely.  Tell me about the air boxes.  Look to be billet.

Bagginz, have you fired it up yet?  How does that airbox sound?  Details, details, please?

Thanks guys! The airbox's are aluminum, cut from one solid piece. Very nice construction. I fired it up once after I put them on. They sounded pretty vicious haha. I'm excited to play around with them once I get the bike rideable again

Thanks! I got them from steel dragon performance. Good guys over there. I would highly recommend doing business with them.

Thanks man!  These "should" be a bit easier to tune also as the in inner carbs "should" get as much air flow as the outer carbs. I hear that's an issue with pods.
I've got 2 questions for you.
Where did you get that sweet oil temp gauge? And what did you clean you block with? Looks really nice!

Keep me posted when you get it on the road. I’m interested to see if you have any performance issues with them.  Any stumbles throughout the throttle range.

I checked with steel dragon a while ago and they said they didnt make them for late model nighthawk.  hmm.
Anyway, my pods work great.  Installed new jet kit.  Bike runs and sounds awesome.
I found the oil temp gauge on ebay.  I saw it in a pic somewhere online.  It came from britain so temp is in Celsius.  Doesnt matter as long as it looks cool. ;-)

Just checked Steel Dragon website and looks like they have them now.  Is that your bike on their website or did you just use their pic?

That's awesome to hear about the pods working well. I think it's funny that tons of people on the forums say how terrible they are. I've talked to lots of people that have tuned them with little to no issues. I got the first boxes steel dragon made. I helped them with measurements etc so I got them before they officially starting selling them
The gauge does look rad! I want one!
