So I've got a 200+ mile ride planned for Friday and my motorcycle superstore order isn't going to get here in time for the ride. Ordering on Sunday & 3-day shipping seems to closer to 5-day shipping.  Sad

I've got a helmet, gloves, & boots but have a nice riding jacket on the way. What would yall recommend to wear since my riding jacket won't be here yet? I'm thinking jeans, t-shirt, and a long-sleeve polo but also know that none of this is as good as actual riding gear.

Try to find a leather, or at least a heavy jean jacket. There is really no substitution for the right stuff.

+1.  I haven't ridden around a block without full gear in three years, much less all day.
If you're doing highway, you'll be surprised how comfortable you can still be in seemingly ridiculously thick materials with windflow.  Better protection and less prone to flapping in the wind.  Ideally a wicking t-shirt, a thin woven shirt and a hearty denim jacket.   If you sweat, it helps the cooling but you need to keep hydrated.

Jeans are not really protective, but a start.  Those crazy Carhartt canvas pants or some nutty brushguard hunting pant would be better (for abrasion, impact not so much).  But if you have the dough and time, I'd swing by a Cycle Gear or something for some cheap but fairly effective gear.

Which is more important? A preplanned 200 mile ride or survival?

Jeans; Remember falling down with jeans as a kid on pavement or gravel? Multiply damage by 10,000. Tshirt/polo, multiply damage by 500,000.

I've been down before. Trust me, you want as much energy dissipation (padding) and abrasion protection between you and the ground as possible. Jeans and tshirts shread on contact.

You need a jacket with minimal armor at least, bud.  The way to get this done is to check craigslist.  I bet you can find one TODAY for maybe $40.00  Thats very cheap insurance!

Just got an update from UPS and it looks like its out of delivery  claps

If its not delivered by the time I leave the office, I will be stopping by Goodwill to find a vintage denim jacket or leather.  knary

Thanks for all of the advice, and I agree with everything said for the most part.
