I have been trying to calm down and figure what I was going to say here.
My first street bike has been stolen. My best friend who lives in Alabama called me earlier today.
Besides tools my KZ was relocated from his garage.
I hope the bastid treats it right and not part it out.
In the 70's I used to be a pro racer. The dealer that sponsored me sold me that bike new at cost.
The mechanics put almost everything in that bike that they put in my race ride. (The owner didn't know)
Needless to say I am PISSED.

Very very uncool in the extreme.  very mad

In situations such as this, the Medieval Ages had the right answer for such hooligans.

I'd cut off the nads not the hands.

I'd cut off the nads not the hands.

nads? hands? In the Medieval Ages, they didn't fool around with such pleasantries. They'd knife the offending hooligan then throw the body in the ditch for the wildlife to eat after looting said hooligans pockets. And in some cases mount the head up on a pike to let others know such behavior isn't acceptable in their village.

Someone attempted to steal my bike once when I was stupid enough to live in ratholes, um, apartments and I caught him in the act. I nearly put a quarterstaff through mr hooligans crotch rocket front tire. Missed by --->||<--- that much dangit. If I hadn't missed, he would have been in a world of hurt in addition to the road rash and no helmet high side he would have experienced.

Sorry to hear about that Maxx. Sounds like that bike meant alot to you.. thieves are so inconsiderate, only thinking about themselves.. If you ever find them just remember, wear gloves and use lots of acid/lye to dispose of the mess.

Pigs. Apparently pigs are the best way to get rid of bodies. See the move Snatch for full explanation.

Did you have theft insurance? It won't replace the sentimental attachment to the bike but a shiny new bike does ease the pain a little. My roommate had her first bike stolen and was really upset until she found out she was getting twice as much as she paid for it.

Not that it would help in this case, but I find that having an obvious surveillance camera or twelve plus signs warning of instant armed response from the resident tend to cut down on idiots attempting to screw with your bike, let alone steal it.

Gotta love IR cameras. :D

After having his stereo stolen like 3x, my neighbor put a sign on his truck, "Please steal me - worth more gone than in my driveway".  No one has bothered to break into it again.  Not sure why that worked, but I think it's funny.

They would have to do a butt line-up to identify the villain.

There won't be much left for them to identify; my response weapon is a Saiga-12 12 gauge assault shotgun with a 20 round drum.

Even when I'm not here, the camera's resolution is good enough to identify people from their faces. :P It is also far from the only camera I have monitoring the bikes and my cars. :D

if an unauthorized person touches the bikes do you have security doors that slam down in front of the windows and a loudspeaker that starts playing random cheesy music while your voice shouts that 911 is being dialed?

You get much quicker response if you call 911 to report you just shot and killed an intruder.  super

They have all the time in the world once the punk is deleted from existince.

One of my dad's business customers was a late 60's year old lady. She dealt with an intruder with a hand cannon in one hand and a phone to the police in the other. Apparently it was going to take them a while to get there and they were giving her crap about public safety and possibly hurting the guy if she didn't put the gun down. She said the best response time she's ever seen from the police was when she told them that they have 3 mintues to get handcuffs on the thug or she's just going to blast him through the wall and into the street and the rubbish truck could deal with him in the morning then hung up on them.

That's not cool Maxx...sorry for your loss.
Keep an eye out on eBay for the next while to see if any of your parts start getting listed.
If they do, at the very least you can msg the guy with some very choice comments.

i think mine might be about to get stolen.  my girlfriend told me she's had to scare some teenagers off my bike a couple times cause she caught them being loud and sitting on it.  then today, i got a knock on the door and the guy walked away when he heard me yell out to hang on.  saw him walking away from the door, looked old enough to be a dad for the kids.  probably wanted to see if i was home before he tried walking off with it.
