So I'm planning on some long trips in the hopefully not too distant future. Just picked up a very nice Honda Goldwing GL1100 Interstate for a STEAL ($800). It has just over 40K miles on it.  Nothing for a Wing! Plan on taking it to Buffalo NY next weekend. I'm looking forward to it. The woman has the camera, but I'll get some photos on here soon.

congrats on the purchase of the wing, do you know if the timing belts have been changes? if not change them before you go. with the age of the bike and if the belts have never been changes its time. if a belt breaks with the engine running you'll bend a valve or two. belts can be bought at napa

I know people love the Wings because they are great cruisers. But if it were mine, I'd strip it down and make it a naked bike...or put a cafe fairing on it.

Otherwise, enjoy the long hauling  biker_h4h1

Congratulations on the Wing!  I had one of those a few years ago, waterpump broke
on it. It is the only motorcycle I have had that I will not buy again, just does nothing
for me. I paid $ 1000 for mine and it was not in as good shape as yours Faithbiker.
Not the easiest bike to work on, a lot of bodywork has to come off to get to stuff.
However, if well taken care off does not need a lot of attention except for general
maintenance. I will check if I still have my manual, if I do, I will give it to you.

Enjoy, Paul.

Hey thanks M98! I know that they do take a little more to work on. I've also thought about going naked on it, but won't be doing that at least until winter with my trip to New York coming up and all. I think my wife would kill me though, she loves it as is.

Looks really good. I was expecting worse for the price.
My friend has an 83 GL1100 he paid 500 for. He put quite a bit of work into it now it runs real good.

Congrats on the new bike. It looks in great condition, and $800 is definately a steal for it. Have fun with it.

Looks awesome! Never been a big gold wing fan, but I've learned to appreciate them now that I own a Honda. (I never thought that would happen either.)
Now out of curiousity, I noticed that big screaming chicken on the back under the license plate.
Is that a Goldwing thing?
Reason I ask, is I am a Transam owner - and I am pretty sure thats what that sticker was intended for. It just looks so much like the famous firebird on the hood of all them mean Transams running around back in the day.
Mine is a 2000, so its fuel injected - and no it doesnt have a 350. Its a 346 ;)

No, I'm pretty sure its a Goldwing thing. It matches several others on the bike.

I decided that I'd keep it as is for now. Unfortunately the Buffalo trip got cancelled due to the other guys being pussies and not wanting to get wet. Ok, just kidding, but I woulda gone anyway. Then again I'm riding a Goldwing, what's rain again? I will be considering either a naked/standard Goldwing or something a little smaller maybe as more of a back and forth kinda ride. I'll keep this one for the long trips. For now though I can't afford anything smaller even. Eventually though I may pick up a CB350 like my dad used to have. If I can find one. It's more sentimental than anything, plus CHEAP on the gas side of things. We'll see I suppose.

Nice ride. Looks like 2 for sale out my way (about 6 hours east of Buffalo).  Nice cb (CM?) 400 out here for sale to.  Bikes are coming out of the wood work for sale this year here.
