My 32 year old baby
« on: June 09, 2014, 07:33:40 PM »
I bought her brand new in 1982.  After a year or two, I outgrew it and parked it in my folks garage, where it sat for many years.  A couple years ago, I uncovered it, put a new battery in it, gave it some fresh gas, and pressed the start button.  A couple seconds later it came to life.  After doing a thorough clean up and tune up, I'm riding it all the time.  I love my lil Hawk!

Thanks.  Obviously, I need to learn how to post a smaller picture.  Don't know how as of yet.

Thanks everyone.  Ok, what do I have to do post a smaller image?  I took photos with my cell, emailed them to myself, saved it to my desktop, and uploaded to imgur and transferred the image url to the forum.  Obviously, that didn't work because my pic is gargantuan in size.

Nice bike  nice1

Curious how you outgrew it and 30 years later got smaller so it fits again  llaugh1....sorry

Thanks for posting up the picture.
Probably have to resize in your photo hosting site 480 x 600 or so.

Did you have to replace tires ?

That is one of the cleanest NH I have seen in a while. Might have something to do with the fact that is was parked for such a long time. Thanks for sharing.

From experience, parked and left go real bad, real fast.  Wish we could see "Gone back to get it" pics.  I suspect not only was the heated garage, but it was still looked after while parked.  Kept clean, or properly covered with blankets, etc.

Usually what happens is dust builds up in everything, wind blows organic matter into the holes, and that just sucks up moisture from the air and starts rotting everything out.  Dust means somebody brushes it and scratches bad.

You can't judge a book by it's cover, but you can tell how cherished the book was.

For some reason your pic is not even able to show up on my computer.  I just am impressed you held onto this for 32 years.  Most eventually get rid of them or decided during the low period of not being used they would sell just to use the money on something else.  Good for you for holding onto your old bike.  Wish I would have done that.

Wow! looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor.  Hope those tires aren't 30 years old! :)
