I've seen them on eBay, but none cheap.
I was looking for one for my 83 650 project but I'm probably just install a round light instead.

Is it the same square light as on the CB650SC? I am swapping out the square light for a round H4 light on my '85 CB650SC, so I might have something you can use. PM me if you're interested, I can take some pics of what I have and see if it will work for you.

Is it the same square light as on the CB650SC?

I looked up the part numbers on the '83 550 and '83 650, they have different part numbers but I can't see Honda making them different sizes so it must be the way it mounts. I bet it'd be doable.

The list on the 550 light is $56 or..... $112 for the light, bulb, socket assembly.
I used this place to look it up. http://www.cyclepartswarehouse.com/fiche_section_detail.asp

Here's what I have:

Square headlight from a CB650SC, in generally good shape. Looks close to perfect on the bike but there are some flaws.

A little surface rust on the headlight reflector assembly:

And a tiny bit more rust on the bottom of the trim ring:

There's also a small crack around the edge of the plastic headlight bucket:

None of these flaws are visible with the light installed or affect the function of it. If this looks like it would suit your needs let me know, make an offer. If you take it I will treat the surface rust with rust converter and glue up the crack before I send it out.

I remember trying to find one of those after my 85 Nighthawk 650 went down. The headlight was by far the hardest part to find. I think I ended up finding a headlight from a V65 Magna at a swap meet. You may try figuring out which bikes that headlight goes on, and go from there. Might be easier to find it that way.

Good luck with the search.
