Ok folks, this is my big weekend!  A buddy and I are going to attend an ADVrider Rally up in northern Wisconsin. This will be my first camping trip with the Nighthawk so I'm really excited.  Also, we are bringing our laptops as the campground has WiFi, so this will be somewhat of a live streaming in progress Ride Report, meaning I'll post photos as i get them, or at least once at the end of each day. We're leaving at about 6 am tomorrow and riding hard for about 6-7 hours to the rally site.  for more info about what its all about look here....http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=424232

I hope you have a lot of fun. I attended an ADV rally here in the Southeast a couple years ago, but I was very thorougly snubbed by the other riders who were on BMWs and KTMs and bigger, newer bikes than mine, which means about 95% of them. I still got in some great riding.

I hope your rally is different as regards the attitude, but just the same as regards the great riding!

If you keep the tools and other heavy things in the bottom of the saddlebags, your weight addition won't make much difference.
When I took my top-heavy rig on a roadtrip, she rode like someone was doing handstands on the seat behind me. "Twitchy" is a word that comes to mind.

But once you're there and drop anchor, you'll be stylin n' profilin'   super

Don't forget to grace us over here with a ride report - even if it's a little truncated.
I also did a RR on ADV's site recently and dropped one here that was a little more NH-centric.

Now...Go my brotha and represent for Nighthawks everywhere.    claps

bungee cords?!  yikes I hope those aren't the only things holding that load down. If so, stop by an Academy and pick up some quick release straps.

Ok, at long last, I have returned! Rally was pretty fun, although we mostly just rode off on our own as it was a dirt and adventure bike thing. Got to see some amazing sights and hang out with some interesting people. here are just a few of the photos i took. spent most of the time in Michigans Upper Peninsula.

1. valley on the way towards copper falls
2.Lift Bridge in Houghton
3. beer truck at rally
4. rustic road proof
5.typical northwoods backroad

There you have it........ Back home after 1500 miles of beautiful riding! So i really wish i had taken some photos of all the different bikes, but each day by the time we returned, it was too dark or to tired. I was also suprised to see that there were 2 other nighthawks at the rally. Im still kicking myself for not getting the pics, so i guess this IS a more nighthawk themed RR!  biker_h4h1

Just make sure no cars are coming from either direction, lay the camera upright on the pavement, and take a picture! If you cast a shadow in front of the camera, put it on the timer.  aparat

As for the other riders at the rally, wasn't really snubbed. We made the rally our base camp while venturing out into the unknown by ourselves. Plus i dont think we could have covered as much ground with a bigger group. But at the end of each day, we chatted with folks about riding, bikes, trips, ect. It was a trip i'll remember for a long time to come.

ps. I broke 100 posts the way i wanted....doing a RR  banana
