1982 Nighthawk 650 35k
« on: April 28, 2017, 01:15:11 AM »
Picked up a non-running 1982 Nighthawk last week for $525 that was sitting in a garage for 6 years. The picture is after giving it a quick hose down to get the dust and cobwebs off it.  Put in a new battery, changed the oil, and she fired right up.  The carbs leak but I'm pulling those this weekend and rebuilding them from kits I got of ebay.  This is my second bike but I'm a new rider.  My other is a 2010 Buell Blast which I'll be selling as soon as I get the Nighthawk up and running.

If it has been sitting for that long, it's time for some new rubber too.  5 years is about the maximum age for tyres before they get too stiff and hard to grip the road properly.
Will also be a good idea to flush the brake fluid (and clutch fluid if it's hydraulic.)
