New to the group, new to the bike, new to the road.

Here is my first Motorcycle ever, I inherited it from a friend who sadly passed. Its Got 26k on it and its a 1985. What should I do first....its hasn't been run in a year or so.

Drain the tank and check for rust.
Change the oil and filter.
Replace plugs.
Replace air filter if needed.
Replace battery of needed.
See if it cranks and runs OK, if not, take a look at cleaning carbs.

Once it's running, you will probably need to change the tyres.  There is a DOT code stamped on one side of each one; you can look up the formula online for determining the age.  Anything older than 5 years is too stiff to ride on any more, regardless of the amount of tread wear.

Ordered oil change supplies, air filter and picked up new plugs. Work comenses next Wednesday. Might do the plugs tomorrow since I have them
