Been through 4 bikes in 2 years that cost a lot more, but none of them were as comfortable and easy to drive and maintain than my latest which is a 2001 Nighthawk 750. Take a look! http://home.comcast.net/~milkmaster/milkmastersscooter.htm

...none of them were as comfortable and easy to drive and maintain than my ...2001 Nighthawk 750. This speaks very poorly about the 1300's. Nice touring set up. There is something about those later CB750's in black that is really growing on me.

Welcome and nice bike MM. I have a 99 black NH set up similar to yours. I was in Tennessee for the Honda Hoot and saw no other NH's other than mine. Do you still have any ot the other bikes?

I'm curious about the highway bars. Any additional information you can share about them?

I think they are actually engine guards/protectors.

I think they are actually engine guards/protectors. I've got a set of those on mine too. I'd just assumed they were stock. Are they not?

They are an aftermarket accessory that seems to be getting harder and harder to find.

Mine are similar, but have another bar coming around the front that connects the two sides together, as well as bolting both sides to the frame. Mine came out of a pile of bars/protectors in our local salvage yard.
