I have a stable now!... super

I am now the proud owner of a 1982 Honda CB650SC Nighthawk! Well, actually I bought if for my girlfriend. So now my stable consists of my 1983 Nighthawk 650, a 1982 Nighthawk 650, and a 1983 GL1100 Interstate! Here are some pics...

Both Nighthawks!

My G/F with her new bike!

and my Goldwing...

So there you have it! I'm excited to have a "stable"! The goldwing is actually in pieces right now, but it'll be ready to roll in the spring. My g/f is taking the ABATE course in the spring as well, which is the same thing as MSF course. For now though, I'm teaching her a little bit, and just getting her accommodated with her new bike. She had her first lesson tonight, and she did really well! She already talking about joining the forum too!

The '82 looks to be in decent shape, a little rust here and there.. but nothing a little polish and elbow grease can't fix. The re-covered seat looks nice too.

Is there much difference, ride wise, between the '82 and the '83?

Thanks everyone! She's really excited to have a bike, and she's looking forward to joining the forum as well! I'll be buying her some better gear over the winter. She's got a nice jacket already, but I want to get her some boots, gloves, a better helmet, and some riding pants.

I feel like there are a lot of differences between these bikes. Both are great rides, but the '83 just has so much more power than the '82. In actuality it's only a 10 or so hp difference, and the actual engine size of the '83 is 655cc's as opposed to 627cc's (I think) for the '82. It's amazing what 10 hp will do though I guess. The '83 is faster off the line, brakes are better, and it has a sixth gear. I also feel more confident throwing it around corners than the '82, but that has to do with riding position I think. I do like the '82 though. It's really comfy, because it's got kind of cruiser feel to it. It's also pretty quick, and feels good at highway speeds. I just wish it had a sixth gear. I think that would help it a lot.

you could always sell the '82 and get her an '83 so she has a 6 speed trans too

beer  Bikes look great! Seeing them side by side, and reading your comparison is cool too. I'm imaginning that when you get on each different bike you must have to make adjustments in how you ride them. Have fun putting the Wing back together!

Thanks Vermontster!

I do have to make adjustments when I ride each of the 'hawks. It's surprisingly natural though. It's not like going from a sport bike to a cruiser or anything since they're both standards. I felt really good on both bikes, which was surprising for the '82 since I had never ridden it.

The Goldwing is turning out to be quite the project. More so than I bargained for actually. It's going to be up for sale when I'm done if you know anyone who's interested! winker

Btw: Where abouts in Vermont are you located? I have an Uncle who lives in those parts. I love going to visit him up there.

Burlington area. The great part about Burlington "is that it's so close to Vermont." That's what 'they' say  Hap1

Lol. What does that even mean? My Uncle lives in Brandon. It's a pretty small town a couple hours south of Burlington. I made the 900 mile drive to see him a couple months ago. It was supposed to be a motorcycle ride, but it ended up being a car ride  Cry. Oh well.
