My 1984 Nighthawk 650 3k miles
« on: April 12, 2017, 12:22:07 PM »
The very first street bike I bought back when I was 19yrs old was a brand new 1983 650 Nighthawk.   I have always wanted another and I recently found and purchased a mint condition 1984, one owner with 3000 miles.    I also have an FJR that I ride most of the time but this Nighthawk always brings a smile to my face.

Wow.  It looks a lot like the one I had.

1 suggestion:  get/install a voltage meter (battery monitor) becasue the electrical generation system on these old bikes will fail.
I had to replace the stator and the R/R on mine and the R/R on my 1989 VTR250.  The voltage meter kept me from having to walk.
Make sure it is waterproof if buying Chinese.... and red LED to be visible in daylight.

These work well and mount on the black plastic of the handlebar clamp cover.http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/8115/i/kuryakyn-led-battery-gauge

a little cheaper (free shipping):http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=kuryakyn+battery+meter&_sop=15

What a beautiful bike!  I have a 1985 that is in excellent shape, but not quite that good!

Haha,  it runs and drives like it looks.  I forgot how much fun these bikes are.  I ride it more often now than my FJR.

What would be the solution if the voltage meter drops below 12 volt?
