At the moment, I'm finding the before picture much more interesting. The handlebars looked oddly high, and I can't say it's my taste, but it was neat. I'll withhold judgment for the final product. The round headlight is an improvement, as is the handlebar. I'm hoping the Erector set linkages are just temporarily replacing the rear shocks - especially seeing how close the fender is to the tire on an unloaded bike.

i would go for which ever one had shocks on it. hard tail + shaft drive seems like something in the driveline is going to get screwed up

A honda done up like a harley. Just go to a bar and dump half a cup of oil on the ground under it and no one will know the difference. Hey, maybe that could be a new harley farkle. Make a ground oiler (kinda like a chain oiler) only it dumps about half a cup of oil on the ground each time the engine is shut off.

yeah, fender was hideous. About 2 inches of metal are dragged off the tail of it, bike used to be nicknamed the wheelie monster ... As for the struts, they are only for mock-up, replacing with some bar stock or black pipe. The bike wanst a bad trade for a surfboard though huh? Its my first project bike, keep in mind its being built under a tree in my backyard with only simple hand tools. still got a ways to go, dont judge yet

Yeah, I think I asked if the purple was before, and then decided there was no polite way to ask such a question and scrapped it as he was apparently answering. Anyway, is the excessive length in the cables now that the handlebar is much lower a worry to anyone else.

better to have cables too long than cables too short that bind ;) also, the fender on the back tire is not a problem on a hard tail. it would definately be an issue with a soft tail, but a hard tail shouldn't move, so he could put the fender 1/2" above the tire and be "ok"

love it !!!!! more pics please !!!!! i plan to start choppin my 83 550 this winter as well and doing some similar things. i know for sure on my list.... lower the front 1-2 inches. lower the rear 3-4 inches. spice up the sound just a bit (perhaps just some holes in the baffles) straight bars, but raised to clear the tank. make a solo seat. fab a rear bobbed fender. round headlight. flush mount led turn signals. and forward controls. not sure what else may fall into place. we'll see. love to see more pics. keep em coming !!! i know there are a lot here that arent into the custom or bobberish or chopperish look.. but there are a few here that are, and many who at least appreciate the hard work.. i appreciate both and will be patiently waiting for the next set of pics ! btw:
