That's right boys and girls. The temperatures are dropping and for some of us, riding season draws closer to the end every day. Therefor, I preset the Refrigerated Rider Contest (2009 - 2010)!The rules stay the same as last season. You must RIDE your motorcycle to a public thermometer and take a picture. After that's, it's simple. Take a picture of your bike and the temperature. Proof of a date and time is helpful, but not required so long as everyone can be trusted with the honor systems. Pictures must be taken this season, and NO OLD PHOTOS are allowed. And because I don't have my Hawk anymore, this contest is still open to all motorcycles. Last year's winner was lysolmp with a temperature of 1*F! See last year's contest here. And the goal here is to encourage people to participate. You don't need to have the lowest temperature to post a picture. Shoot for a personal best. Heck, if we get enough participants, I may even break it down into geographic location. Have fun with it! Standings 1) Laminar - -8*F and 20*F 2) rotomotor - 10*F, 18*F, 21*F ,29*F, and 31*F 3) lysolmp - 14*F 4) bloftus - 16*F, 27*F, 33*F, and 73*F 5) luckylindy - 18*F and 23*F 6) skramer360 - 19*F, 29*F and 32*F 7) JordanA - 23*F 8) happycommuter - 24*F[/b] and 31*F 9) sobdziad - 25*F 10) DesignFlaw06 - 26*F

It has to be colder than your previous posted photo. Pro Tip: start with a high temperature and you can litter the place up with incrementally lower temp photos!

Maybe I'll get a cheap camera for this contest. I was out riding earlier today but it was only low 40's.

I won't take the Nikon for a ride. Why not? Just get a good camera backpack or padded armored luggage and go ride. I carry all my camera gear with me regularly with no problems.

What about a regional version? Would that be too difficult to administer? More people might participate, e.g. I can't even compete with 1 degree, so I probably won't bother.

If it doesn't get cold enough where you live you could always drive north to find the cold. I'll be doing that any time a cold snap makes it's way close to Louisiana. I'll probably wait for about January when you northerners are eyeballs deep in snow to post some local temperatures. You have already surpassed mid winter temperatures here.
Got me a heated jacket and the bike has heated grips. Can't wait for the cold!

I was thinking about that this morning as I rode to work.. I don't know where there is a public thermometer anywhere around here though (never found one in the summer). Oh, and it was a cool 0C here this morning (32F) and yesterday when I rode in it was -4C (24.8F).

Isn't the fun in the game and getting to ride? My climate is so mild I can't hope to win either hottest or coldest near my home. Anyway, those of us in the south can post our temps to make those freezing up north envious.

We will remind you of that a few months into the winter. It might get hot and we might get envious of the cool riding condition when summer is in full swing. At least when it gets hot we can still ride though. You guys defiantly get the short end of the stick on this one.

That doesn't work for me. I live too far south in Texas. Would be a 6 hour ride 1 way just to get to anything resembling cold ;)
