A couple weekends ago, before the leaves completely fell, I rode to Shelburne Museum where they had an exhibit of vintage bikes, as well as some amazing custom bikes. Here's a smattering of pics... I'll post some more tomorrow night. It's late and I haven't been able to figure out how to hot link pics yet.

okay... a few more to entice. The emerald green custom won the national 2006 competition and is called "Smackdown". Made by a guy here in Jeffersonville, Vermont. It truly was inspiring to be see that kind of precision and craftsmanship! It was in a building with Tiffany glass exhibit!  mol  I'm fading... so I'll post the rest tomorrow.

Cool post - a car/bike show makes a great ride to me.  That 750F race bike is awesome.  The clutch cover on that bike must be one-off for more cooling?

thanks for sharing.

Tried hot-linking some more pics... no luck... so I'll just send some more by attaching. Wish I knew the years of the older bikes. Maybe you all have more knowledge about that stuff. It was very cool to imagine riding some of these.

That 'Smackdown' custom was only about 2 inches off the ground, if that. It's basically not a rideable machine in my book, but wild to look at!

One more set from the museum grounds. There's a full sized paddle wheel boat called The Ticonderoga on the grounds, along with a lighthouse, and the old 'manor' house. The Webbs used to own the land, a wealthy family from the NYC area I think. The Ticonderoga was built in 1906 and was a functioning freight/passenger/and excursion boat right up until early 50s. It was moved to the 'landed' location in 1955 to be part of the museum. I've been on it but stuck to motorcycles on this tour  smiler

Another of the Ural, a bike called a 'Whizzer' (lol), a very old Triumph, and a few more from the ride. "I want to thank you all for coming and I hope you enjoyed the show."

My neighbor is a bike dealer.  He just picked up the Royal Enfield line.  I swear, one of the bikes he is selling looks exactly like the one in your pictures.  My neighbor says that the new bikes are fuel injected, have disc brakes, but otherwise unchanged for almost 40 years.  He's got 5 models and all sell for under $3,000.00 - 500cc bikes.

Great pictures - enjoyed looking at the different bikes.

Thanks very much! I think I may have a few more... I'll see what I can do tonight.

Pants, I've heard that about the Royal Enfield line. There's a thread somewhere here from a member who just bought a new one (within a couple years) and it looks essentially like this old one.

The red custom I called The Munster because it sort of looked like Herman Munsters hot rod  Hap1. And the dual motor's designed by a nationally known builder (danged if I remember his name) - it's fuel tank is, get this, in the rear hub  eek7

That RC30 with the one-sided swingarm is just sick.  I'd love to have 15 minutes on that bike.  Not much, I would just like to try it out.

beer to more great pics! I LOVE that Ural with the brown cammo.
Those Urals and the Royal Enfields are still available and still basically unchanged since the 1950's era. My wife and I stopped by a dealer, more of a guy's garage really, that sold new Enfields and they really do look just like that...and for about $3000-$4000 brand new.

bugey  NICE JOB VERMONTSTER!   mol

I really like that CB (F) at the very beginning.  I too was wondering what kind of trick clutch lurked behind that cover.

Your bike by the lake...artistic, beautiful!

Thanks for taking the time to load all the great stuff!
