I'll start, my bike is a 1995 nighthawk 750, I just got it and it has almost 40k on the clock.  Everything I've read says that these bikes are bullet proof, and I'm planning on riding it from seattle to sturgis next year.  Do you have any maintenance tips for me?

How many miles does your bike have?

My 95 Nighthawk has16600 if I remember corectly.
Steadily going up.
I know that I don't ride near as much as some of you, but I love to get away from the house on my bike.
I run most errands on her, if its not raining, I'm on the bike, unless I have a lot of stuff to get or something too bulky.
Hard to carry 8' 2x4's, put one end on the bike, and the other on a Skate Board? Cross ways on the luggage rack cuts way down on the lean angle.

My '93 has 38,600 and change. Only 4600 of those are mine though. I've only had it 10 months. Only maintenance I've had to do so far is basic stuff, i.e. oil/filter change, water in battery, chain, etc.

19800 on my '95.

If you follow the maintenance schedule, fix any issues before they get worse, and don't abuse the bike, it should last a long time.

Also, do not leave the bike exposed to the elements if possible, rusting & pitting issues should stay at a minimum.

Keep your chain clean and lubricated at all times, it will last you 20K, 30K, or 40K miles.

This pretty much applies to all motorcycles, any bike will last a long time if properly cared for. Of course, BMW's are the exception  poke (kidding)

Oh, yes I do. I have a '65 Vette with a modified 396 V-8 and a green '70 Yenko Nova 427, hence my sig name. Also have about 30 other muscle cars. Unfortunately, I cannot drive any of them.

They are only 1/24 scale.....

26K and some change on my '93 750 and they're all mine.  I didn't really start building up the miles on this bike until I got rid of my 3 other bikes several years back.  Having a 4 mile commute to work keeps the miles down as well.    Hopefully, this bike will last until I'm too old to ride, because I know I'm not going to be able to buy a new one.

Do the preventative maintenance when you're supposed to. Fix or replace stuff as early as possible when they start to fail. Don't defer maintenance except on deferable items then have a plan on how and when to deal with those items. Proper maintenance and repairs done on time and when required reduce the down time and cost while increasing reliability.

Green 427 - it's ok to dream, I guess.  I watch the Barret Jackson car show every year and drool over those cages.  A yenko nova would be like winning the lottery.  When I retire, I'm going to buy/build a bracket car, strictly for the strip, not licensed.  It will have "go", but only budget will determine if it has "show" as well.

Same rule applies here for anything I own. Cage tires I don't have equipment for so I pull and replace the wheel. They can put the tire on the wheel however I stand over them with a 1-5/16" combination wrench making sure they don't do anything wrong.
