Bought my first bike back in late Nov. 1982 Honda CB450SC. currently in the process of "bobbing" it out. disassembled the bike(removed engine, all wiring, fairings, all lights, etc.) bassically just a rolling frame right now. in the process of stripping the old paintoff the frame. my brothers working on the wiring(currently need a new CDI box) my plans for "mods"/things i need to replace are: fuel tank(previous owner put drag bars on it, and hammered in the corners of the tank to allow him to turn... ) CDI box, re-wire bike, bullet turn signals for the rear, ill need a brakelight as well... id like to get controls from a harley sportster (on/run, turn signals etc.) new headlight but same style as OE (headlight was all screwy and siliconed....badly) id like a new brake resevoir/lever and clutch lever as well - if possible id also like them off a harley sporster, im thinking of rhino-lining the frame once its ready for "paint", but im not 100% sure yet. i need to replace the forks - i would just get the seals replaced but it appears someone else has messed with them....many times. anyways....i cant think of anything else for now....but ill post "progress" pics as soon as i can.

hello and to NHF 82blackhawkbobbe. the handle bars on your bike is 7/8" and sporster bars are 1" i know, i checked that when i got the idea for the sportster controls n crap. my brother has an 08 sportster 883(which i absolutely love, but i think harleys are WAY over priced) and i really like the....simplicity, of the controls. Also i think it would give my bike a slightly more modern look to it. I'll have to double check everything, but i believe all i need are different risers and handlebars. at first i was thinking of just getting a complete tree/fork set off a sportster and swaping them, but it would cost way more than it would be worth.

my brother has an 08 sportster 883(which i absolutely love, but i think harleys are WAY over priced) and i really like the....simplicity, of the controls. Have you actually used them? Admittedly my experience is attempting to start the engine and having the right blinker start flashing, but I've read about how downright dangerous they are: The indicators were ... devices with a significantly worse UI than even BMW manage (yes, it is possible) - one clickless feedback-free button on each bar, push once to indicate, again to cancel...made much worse by the addition of 'intelligent' self-cancelling, which cancelled the indicator at its own whim, based only on an algorithmic combination of time & instantaneous turn angle. So, you'd start to indicate, look at your knackers to check that yes, in fact, you were indicating, & then it would spontaneously stop. When you pushed the button again to cancel it you'd actually start it up again...
In one 30 minute test-ride I was caught out several times & nearly flattened once because of this 'feature' ...I indicated right on approach, & while thu'penny bitting round this mini-roundabout... the indicator self-cancelled & a van decided that I was turning right as indicated, & overtook me mid-roundabout on the inside. http://www.goingfaster.com/angst/haylockreview.htm

Time has nothing to do with the signals canceling. It's based on distance and/or lean angle only. Believe it or not, this feature actually works good (better than any bike I've ever ridden with self canceling signals) though I could see how it might not work very well in a roundabout. 82BlackHawkBobber ................chop away.

aight, after being lazy for a few weeks i finally re-painted the frame. used krylon grill-paint. worked wonderfuly. might put one coat of bed-liner on it too. I also got my new turn signals in from amazon. wanted black ones but all they had was chrome.....so i painted them as well. looks like they came black! kinda mocked up the rear turns 4 pics.

brother also got creative with the old muffler made an ashtray out of it, an old bike chain, bike sprocket, and pos wrench. pretty cool really. anyways - ive been searching for a tank close to, or the same as OE. main issue im having is finding one with a wide enough channel/tunel to fit the frame. wht other tanks (if any) will fit this frame? i was possibly thinking the older rebel tanks, buuut im not sure. id like somthing like the OE tank, or a harley sportster peanut tank. any ideas?....without modding the frame.

Tons of tanks on ebay. Most of them are made with tabs so all you have to do is drill and tap.
