Hi everyone, I'm new to this site. I've been riding for close to a year, and I have an 1983 CB650SC Nighthawk. Here are some pictures...

Glad to have you join the forum. The 1983 Nighthawk is a great bike. Where do you reside ? Where did the bike get the round headlight ? Ride safely.... I hope the snow has melted by now

I live in Lafayette IN. These pictures where taken right after I finished the bike back in February. I was not very fond of the square headlight, so I wanted to change it. I found a round headlight online to add to it but it took a lot of modifying to get it to fit. I'm really happy with it.

Welcome. I also like the round headlight. Were you able to use the original bracket to mount it?

Um, did you black out the tail fender trim? Given the chrome sparkle on th grips and mirrors, this seems odd to me. Overall, the black&white works surprisingly well. And I knew that the incongruous rectangular headlight hurt the looks of the CB650. Now we have proof.

The black trim and the white works, good job. I picked up a trashy looking 83 650 parts bike (no title) for my 550 but not much was interchangable. It looked so bad that I had to slap a coat of paint on it but all I had at the time was a few rattle cans of dollar store white. Ya know... new parts in a can. I'm not a huge fan of white but with the gray aluminum it looks pretty good, now all I need is a title then I'll get serious about getting it back into shape. The head light was missing so I was going with round as well. Anyway welcome and the white works.

White is not a common color. But that looks very well done. I have a similar fairing on my 750. I am curious what you did with the headlight. Trying to find a replacement for the rectangular one was near impossible when I had my 650. Bulb was easy to find, but the headlight fixture itself had to be found on a V65 Magna.

Thanks all! I spent all of last winter restoring it. I did paint the rear fender trim. The gray aluminum that was on it before was kind of beaten up. I was also able to use the original brackets for the headlight. It was quite the battle to get the light on. It took a lot of patience, and a cut off wheel to really get it in place. The paint is not perfect, but i was a complete rookie going into it. So I'm happy with it for now. This coming winter I'll be rebuilding my carbs, and doing some other miscellaneous work on it. I love my nighthawk! Oh yea, and it also has a big black stripe painted down the middle of the tank. I just noticed you couldn't really see that from the pictures. Thanks again!
