Picked this one up this week to add to my others (see previous thread)

http://nighthawk-forums.com/index.php/topic,134.0.html

Had a 2004 but sold it to my son. Ended up missing it, and found this one to turn into a lightweight solo sport tourer

You know an amazing thing to compare the 2000 Nighthawk and the 2001  FZ

Dry weight the NH is 463 the FZ 458
The NH has a 5 sp trans the FZ a 6 sp
The NH has single disc F and drum rear the FZ triple discs
the NH has 75 HP and 47 # torque while the FZ has 125 HP and 78 # of torque
Honda produced the NH for 3 more years while having to compete with the FZ ..and we wonder why Honda quit making the NH.

The best thing about the Nighthawk

The Honda has hydraulic valves that never need adjusting, the FZ needs it's valve adjusted every 26,000 miles

Of course for most people the FZ would need it's valves adjusted every 6 years. This one is 9 years old and still doeisn't due for an adjustment.

Congrats Ferret - I'm jealous.  Not of your choice, but like Jordan, because you can get another bike.  Those front disc look like they are very capable, and your HP/Torque spec suggest you might need good brakes.  Nice looking bike.

I need one! I'm looking for options for a new bike when I get one, I might just have to go after one of those!

Faith these are real close to a Nighthawk in that they have upright seating, a good relationship between bars and pegs, and a large fuel tank for good range. I thnk the FZ is where the Nighthawk could have gone. This is a Gen 1 FZ which was made with basically no changes from 01-05.

Imagine if you will a 1000cc Nighthawk...yea baby  ricky

Congrats on the FZ1.  Speaking of a 1K CB, here's one we could have...

See, that looks great. If Yammie can sell FZ1's here and Suzuki can sell Bandits here, why can't HONDA sell those here?
