1983 Nighthawk 650
« on: June 15, 2014, 01:09:32 AM »
Hey, new guy here.  Bought a 83 Nighthawk 650 today.  Picked it up about 11am.  I am certified in Mopar, I am a mechanic.  Got this to keep the mileage down on my 01 Dakota quad cab (lots of work).  Both will be projects, but the bike has become more now.  Tomorrow starts the work.  New daily, and has a lot of custom work done, and I will finish it.  Whats needed is rejetting of carbs, some electrical, and filters.  Should have it on the road in a couple days, 2 weeks at the max.  Looking forward to the help and advice, since this will be new territory for me.  Ive done 50s and up cars, and my truck has been the show/shop truck.

Sounds like the PO removed the stock air box. If so replace it (otherwise you are on your own for jetting and I'm not getting into this debate) Otherwise good luck and we love  pics44 .Post up what problems you are having and hope you get it all sorted out.

I am located in south GA, about 45 minutes from Savannah.  The PO did take them off, I knew the guy who did it.  We are friends, and hes been buying, rebuilding, and selling bikes for a while.  He just lost interest in this one since he got his new one.  So I gladly took it off his hands.  Everything is here, and I have pods on order for each carb, and I will have the jetting finished by late next week.  I mechanically inclined, Im a master mechanic, looking forward to starting on bikes.  Thanks for the welcomes.
