Hello guys my family owns a small little shop north of the Twin Cities in Minnesota. A customer brought us this bike and it turned out to have more problems than he was willing to pay for. So he ended up giving us the bike in payment for the work we had into it. We are kinda wondering what to do with it...Part it out or Sell it whole as is. Here are some pics of what it is. Our dad that owned the shop past away last year. So my brother and I are trying to pick of the odds and ends of things for our mom. What we know about the bike is that the leak down test shoes cylinder 2 at 112lbs. It looks like our dad was pricing out 2 valves that the head would need and a total of 3 lifters. I also recall my dad wondering if there maybe a lower end problem too but we have no notes on that. Judging by moving the connecting rods the #2 rod has a lil play up and down. None of the other rods have this. Other items that it needs is a fork seal on the left leg it looks like and a battery. So what do you guys think should we fix it. Sell it or part it out. I guess my main question is do you think there is enough interest to fully part the bike out. Parting out can be a big hassle and sometimes can go smoothly. But just thought I would post up here and ask some of the experts about this.

A customer brought us this bike and it turned out to have more problems than he was willing to pay for. Sadly I can't argue with his decision. I've heard that lifter replacement is prohibitively expensive in purely economic terms. Take a look at eBay and you'll see that parts for these bikes do sell. And this looks pretty clean.

Take a look at eBay and you'll see that parts for these bikes do sell. I can vouch for that. I've bought a bunch of parts on eBay to bring my Nighthawk back up to snuff. There are always people there shopping for parts. What's up with that ghastly purple color?

It looks pretty complete, and in good shape. Too bad someone doesn't have a nice engine to put in that thing.
I agree that you won't have much problem with selling the parts. Many of the parts on this model have been discontinued by Honda, and are getting more and more difficult to obtain.

Thanks for the comments guys! I will start combing eBay to get some ideas on pricing.
Viper I will email you tonight once I get home and get my hands on the invoice of what we have into the bike so far.
I am still in disbelief that someone would paint over the original color scheme not to mention what they were thinking with this purple color!

Yeah, I was going to mention that you might want to give some folks on this forum first dibs before posting the parts on flea~bay. I'm sure some folks on here could use parts off that bike.

Yea I was actually thinking of that before I started this thread. At this point I am getting in touch with those that have made inquiries about buying the bike whole as is before I decide to do a part out.

I don't have room for the whole bike or I'd make an offer, but i would possibly be interested in the wheels and front fender if you are parting it out, maybe a few other odds/ends too. I live in St.Paul so I could drive out there. let me know and i'll give you my number
