Heh, the Sportster is the only Harley that doesn't immediately make me think the owner may have been dropped on his head as a child (and, judging by the lack of helmets on the heads of H-D riders, liked it). I actually like the Nightster until I remember how much it costs, and how its performance compares to other bikes that cost that much .

2006 xl883c. my first actually new bike. last year for the carb. i rode an 86 my brother has and loved the ride so i tried a 06 model and ended up buying one. i like all the hd's but, they are expensive. i don't ever sell my bikes so it'll always be around although i do like the dynas too. if i were to get another it would be a dyna. the performance is not anywhere near the jap bikes, it is something about the way they ride that got me hooked on one. if you ever have the chance, give one a try.

I'm *that* close to trading in my '03 Dyna on a Sporty Roadster...mine's the FXDX (carbureted), with the dual-disk front brakes and adjustable suspension. I've done up some stainless lines and floating rotors, same as I did for the Nighthawk, to up the ante on the brakes. I got my Dyna new, too, and I swore I'd never sell it, but the Sporty is lighter and cheaper to maintain. And yours is even still shiny! Oh...and Brockman...I ride my Dyna hard enough to put most Harley owners to shame...and I ride it in a full-face helmet and full gear.

you know, I just cant get over the fact that they look so tall in front and short in back... the proportions just give the funny look the only harley I really like the looks of is the rocker seen above, there was a pic of a guy in modern gear riding it on the cover of a bike mag last summer this isn't it of course but I can't find it on the web My opinion is only slightly skewed, this is what I dream of

I have to be honest, I cannot recall having seen a Harley rider around here in a full face helmet, let alone full gear. On the other extreme, I don't think I've ever seen an unhelmeted BMW rider, and the few times I've seen a V-strom, the guy was fully suited with a reflective vest. I hope I didn't come across as a total Harley hater, honestly whatever people enjoy riding is great, and I wish they all felt the same about everyone else. But I certainly feel more at home when I wander into a local import bike shop than the Harley dealer. But that doesn't mean I don't enjoy staring at this in the window: But I think for the money I'd be much more likely to end up on one of these:

Actually that's a Street Triple (675). Lighter, nimbler, cheaper, still plenty fast for mere mortals, but less likely to kill me or jack up my insurance rates :).
