Welcome aboard WLH!   welcome
Judging by your pic, you are doing it right!  I certainly would not have my NH on the road if not for the greta support and experience freely shared on this forum.
Best regards,
Eric

Hi WLH and welcome.  If you are doing a restore I think the site would appreciate any photos and documentation that you would share.

First things first... wires! I would like to try custom gauges and lights. Does anyone think this might not be worth the tylenol?

welcome WLH. Like everyone said we love pics. The parts I've needed and couldn't get new, I waited patiently and looked and found on ebay. If you look around on this board many of the members fab their own stuff or mod things to fit because there aren't many aftermarket parts available for our Nighthawks. Most of your wear parts will probably still be available from a dealer or online. Good luck.

I upgraded to a digital speedo/tach (Trailtech Vapor). It was not very difficult. Here is the thread http://nighthawk-forums.com/index.php/topic,772.0.html
As far as lights go, as long as its something the weak charging system can handle it shouldn't be a problem. If you search there are many threads on here where people have replaced the square headlight with a round one.

Nice Wiz! That fits the bike surprisingly well. Was that as painless as it looks?

Fairly easy, just follow the instructions and don't rush. The hardest part was figuring out the wiring for the indicator lights.
I ended up flipping the angle bracket around so the speedo is closer to the handlebars and it looks much better than the picture in the write up.
