This topic probably has been beaten to death, but to be perfectly honest, i'm feeling super lazy at the moment and I don't feel much like searching. So if anyone wants to contribute, great.......

I don't want to start a whole textile vs. leather debate here......but I  am curious if the cheaper JR textile jackets are any good. I'm looking at the Red Ryder Honda Jacket and the VFR Hitena 630 (also Honda).

Ebay prices are pretty cheap, and through 'lightly' searching this forum (meaning the opening page of posts) I have learned about NewEnough. I'm headed over there right now.....

The JR jacket I have is ok.  It's an older textile mesh jacket.  I replaced it with a Cortech GX Air because I like the fit, features and armor better.  The JR isa good jakcket, and if it's a really great deal, I'd get it.

I have 2 Joe Rocket jackets, one is mesh and is great in the warmer weather, it breath's great, the other I just got and have not had a chance to ride with it yet. But both jackets fit very well and are comfortable, I'm 6' 240 and have both in xxl and the fit is great.

I have a joe rocket jacket.
This one:

http://www.joerocket.com/catalog/index.cfm/264/199/Textile_Jackets/Interceptor_Jacket

I really like it. It goes from very heavy to very light. It came with a thick liner that I haven't had to use. The liner comes out, and the whole sleeve area, including a portion of the back all zips out to be just mesh. So it is very convertible.

It is also very comfortable when riding and when walking around in it all day.

Overall, I am very satisfied with how the jacket feels and the quality of the jacket.
I will probably continue to buy Joe Rocket jackets.

To be honest when I got my JR Meteor for $50(it was discontinued) I didn't expect much.  But now that I've had it for several months I like it.  Rode in everthing from 70's with the liner out to 30's with the liner zipped in and it was comfortable in the warm and cold.  80's and above I'll go back to mesh.  If you can get a JR cheap then do it.

Cool. Thanks for the replies. I think I made a good decision.....
I ended up checking out AlmostNew based on another post I was reading, and ended up getting this JR closeout jacket for $39+ship.

Not too shabby. Its a little bright for my tastes, but for forty scoots, I couldn't pass it up. I can't wait until it gets here!

I have an Alter Ego and love it.  The only problem I've found is sticky zippers on the cuffs, although that could have been the previous owner abusing them, since the liner and shell ones are fine.
