I have always had Honda dirtbikes and atvs. I have also had a Honda CM200t for about 5 years also. Just bought an 83 Nighthawk 650 yesterday for 850 bux. Always like the Nighthawks no matter the year and finally found one. Great to have found a forum for them too. Tell me what you guys think about this one.
Some have been know to turn a Nighthawk into a dualsport bike. I think that one would make a good one.

lol on the conversion. it dont bother me tho. great light output. better light than my 87 s10 thats for sure. anybody know how hard it is to replace 5th gear? 5th was gone when i bought it. all other gears work great and the bike runs perfect and doesnt show any signs of abuse.

Happy to have you in the forum. Your Nighthawk looks a lot like mine. How many miles ? Mine has 28k. Haven't worked on any transmissions. I replaced the alternator's stator last fall and had front forks rebuilt a year ago. That and new tires is about all. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do mine.

the bike has 31,xxx miles on it. and looks like it has had some top end work done to it. maybe rings or something. im thinking of trying to tackle the 5th gear with the help of my uncle (bike mechanic) or my local Honda shop said for parts and labor looking at about 350 bux give or take. but until the season is over, its gonna get ridden as is. the guy i bought it from said he has rode it as is for about a year with no problems.

Other than 5th missing the bike is in great shape for the miles and age

That's a steal for $850. Hope you can get that tranny figured out. Hard to find them in such good shape for even doulble that. I like it without the square headlight, do they make a conversion for them.
Someone on here did it, but I can't seem to remember where. If I find it, I'll post it. Tim

i think 850 was a steal too. even after i put the money into getting 5th replaced and buying an aftermarket exhaust system for it its a better buy than getting a new cbr 600 lol.
as for the headlight, i like the rectangle light. doesnt bother me at all.

Sweet bike for 850 . Judging from the tail sections of the pipes its never been dropped. Right on. Unfortunately mines been dropped on both sides before i got it. + 1 by me. Stupid uneven pavement at the gas station . Going to happen eventually.

Thats an amazing looking bike for $850. Did the previous owner do a rebuild on it?? It looks like the paint is really fresh and clean.

as far as i can tell it hasnt been dropped or laid over. as for the paint, i think its still the og paintjob. and the engine shows signs of maybe some kind of top end work as far as the cam area but im unaware of any internal work. maybe it has, maybe it hasnt. i do have a weird whining noise coming from the right side cam area though. could it be the valves or should i look into it more?

got new exhaust put on this thing. Vance & Hines 4-1. Black pipe with an aluminum muffler. may not be the best in the world but it sounds great
