'86 NH 450 and '93 NH 750
« on: June 18, 2014, 09:01:28 PM »
So a few months ago, I decided to learn how to ride a motorcycle. I found this '86 Nighthawk 450 on Craigslist for $1200. After a cam chain adjustment, cleaned out carbs, an adjusted and cleaned chain,  and some air in the tires, it runs great, and has been a great bike to learn on.

While I really enjoyed learning on the 450, I quickly found myself wanting something with more power. I was content to wait until next season, but then I found a '93 750. With only 13,000 miles and the fact that I was buying it from the original owner, the $1500 price tag seemed like a steal. I've only put about 200 miles on it, but it runs well. It takes a while to warm up, and I plan on giving it a once-over this weekend.

I'm looking forward to putting in more miles on both bikes (and my wife is interested in learning on the 450), and I've found some great ideas after looking at the posts on this forum.

Cheers!

Dang, how come I can never get a steal like that?  Congratulations!

Very clean examples of both, welcome to the Nighthawk world. Are you keeping the 450?

Thanks! I am keeping the 450. My wife wants to learn how to ride, and it's a good size for her.

Great bike to learn on. Glad to hear you're keeping it. You've got the begining of good collection, just the 250, the 550, two generations of 650's, the original '82 750 and a 700 S and you've got the set.
