1995 Nighthawk - second owner, purchased 1996

Hi,

My name is Norton Ewart - I live in Loveland, Colorado, soon to be Golden.  (moving this month)

My trusty Nighthawk has been with me since 1996 - I'm the second owner.  It has about 35,000 miles on it.  I've done a lot of commuting, some canyon carving, and a couple of "sport touring" trips through the mountains - even spent 10 days two up riding down through New Mexico.

Thanks for creating this space for birds of a feather to flock to...

I've tried to attach a photo - as it's my first post, we'll see it that works.

Looking forward to trading info and ideas.

Norton

PS - as you can maybe tell from my picture, I spend as much time as I can on two wheels.  The more the car stays in the garage, the happier I am.

 welcome
I have yet to manage keeping a vehicle for a decade, so congrats on that.  The windscreen and saddlebags are very well integrated (aesthetically, hey it's a picture...)

happycommuter -

Thanks for the compliments - they're functional, though at this point I'm sorry to report one of the supports for the hard cases is cracking and will need to be replaced soon.

My last name is of Welsh origin, and I guess the Welsh share the trait with the Scottish of tending to pinch pennies...  I'm the same way with my cars - if I can fix it, and it still meets my needs, I can't justify buying a new one.   My car is a '98 Taurus with 160K miles.    The bike I sold to buy this one was an '81 CM400C with 25k on it, that I rode from '84 till '96.  I sold it for $300 after buying it as a factory holdover for $500.  I was happy with the value I got from that one.

You mentioned the Rocky Mountain Water - they only say they brew the beer with it - they don't say it's actually in there.  My guess is the water that fills the can/bottle comes from somewhere near the bottling plant.  If you're ever in Golden, stop by the Capitol Grille and order a Barmens Pilsner.  It's authentically and locally made, and might just be the best beer you'll have in America.  Of course, let me know you're in town first, so it's not only a good beer, it's a free beer...

Nice looking bike!  Looks well kept.  I like the look of the hard bags too.

I can't bame you there. I have a 94 Dodge Dakota with 175k on it. Had it for 9 years and runs like a champ. Don't plan on getting rid of the Nighthawk until the wheels fall off either.

Glad you could join. Nice bike.
