I'm a standard rider who cruises around on the weekends on a vintage bike, until I get enough miles and experience to be a commuter smiler

I don't think of an '83 as vintage, but when I do stop to think, 1983 was quite a while ago.  I'm getting older without even realizing it, I still think that old cars are from the 50's & 60's, not the 80's.
At 31 I don't think I'm old, but I don't think I have accepted the fact that Im not still 21.

Where does the time go?

I apologize, I know  ontopic

At 30, all I have to say is AMEN!
I think of the '69 Ford Maverick I drove as vintage, not my '86 Nighthawk. Hell, I still think of a things from '95 as "new".  winker

I just like to ride. I really don't care how far or where so long as i have gotten on the bike and gone somewhere. When I am not on my bike I want to be plain and simple. This winter is going to suck.

Starting with dual sports in 1972 I then went to the road with a new 82 CB650.  Six years ago I started group sport bike riding.  My then 85 CB650SC and 90k miles of experience were no match for this new pace.  Since I have honed my skills with another 75k miles on on a 02 VFR800.  I missed the Nighthawk and so I added a 85 CB700SC which has no problem keeping pace the modern sports bikes.

SPORT-touring at a pace I sometimes question but addicted to.

Prior to buying my bike this past March, I have not ridden in thirty years and then it was off road only. And to add to this, I (SHHH) don't have a license. Even the guy I bought her from was a bad influence in that he rode for six years with out one. That being said I have racked up about Two thousand miles this summer riding "around the block", which in actuality is a ~20 - 60 mile lap depending upon traffic and the like. Go Monday for my road test, just in time to winterize her. So I think i'm a ever learning novice at best and at 58 years of age, "rubbing my knee" on the road will not be intentional. This time of year we have the dear run'n, and that bugs me more than a cager up my pipes as you say. So it's one lap at a time and when i'm legal i'll ride till first ice. Glad I found this forum, alot of good info here. Stay safe, stay upright....

I guess you needed to take the edge off a bit before going on your first legal ride?  ImaPoser
