Beautiful ride today to catch the desert blooms before it was too late...

7 hours on the road, 226 miles, averaged 61 MPG and an average speed of 32 MPH (lot's of stops for pictures and a nice lunch).

Max speed hit was 59 MPH.

Best MPG through the desert was 69 MPG, worst pulling up HWY 8 East was 56 MPG.

As always, I'll let the pictures do the talking. Here is the general SPOT track:

http://www.spotadventures.com/trip/view?trip_id=192882

And here are the pictures!

Looking South into Mexico from HWY 8:

Just East of Pine Valley is looking South towards Campo:

A view of the TW200 Flight Deck:

This one is for my buddy Fish:

Shot out on some trails off Old 80 - Couldn't resist:

This is part of the Wind Generator Farm put in by Acorn Casino:

Old 80/84 runs right next to the US/Mexico border as you can see:

Jacumba - Agriculture is growing down here:

Looking down into Ocotillo off HWY 8:

Now just a series of wild flower and desert view pictures:

Long stretches:

Headed off for some sand play to check out the Palm Spring:

Lot's of twisties too:

Descending into Borrego:

Leaving Borrego:

Beautiful valley's near Lake Henshaw:

Heading into Julian, looking back to Santa Ysabel:

My favorite shot of the day in Julian:

That's it folks!

I believe they call the plants in your favorite shot Easter Lillies - great timing!  Personally, I think the Cactus blooms are beautiful.  We just don't see those in my corner of the world.

Looks like you are having a blast - thanks for sharing with us.

That's just such a nice area to take journeys. What is average cruising speed? Do you get worried about vehicles comming from behind too fast? Those knobbies will prolly go fast on the highway.

Are there mountian streams with fishing around there?

Next time bring the rose and have the cattle pose.  bugey

Where are the rattlers and lizzards?

Let's see...

I usually cruise 50-55 - She'll do 50 just about anywhere, and can hit 70 on the flat... But 55 is a sweet spot

Not too worried about getting run down - Lot's of slow movers around here in the number one lane... 55 is fine....

Most are actually getting close to 10K on the rear riding the roads, the front goes faster at around 7K... We'll see... They have a more street oriented tire but that would take away some fun options... And man she has some serious street grip even though they are knobbies!  naughty

No streams around here... Just little creeks with no fish...  Cry

Saw plenty or lizards today... No rattlers thank goodness but they are out there!

It was a great day...  rayof

Beautiful Cacti!  What kind of camera do you use?

It's a Sony DSC-H20

10x optical zoom was the selling point for me.

I like it - Pretty compact and much more capable than I...   aparat

Definately! Dont plan on it any time soon though. Every time I get some funds built up in the bike fund I end up needing it to help my son or wife. They know I save so they dont.
very mad Its amazing how they always have money to do stuff and buy stuff, but as soon as something breaks its time to come visit bank of Daddy.  wacko The scooters fun and a great low cost commuter but eventually the right deal will come along and Ill have a bike again.
