Decided to do a shakedown cruise over the weekend, see how the GPS works and try out some minor mods we've done on our bikes. Rode through 4 different SoCal counties. We've had a decent amount of rain this year so things are greener than usual. It made for really beautiful scenery and the smell of the citrus orchards, roses and jasmine was amazing! The first pictures were taken on Palomar Mountain north of San Diego. I include the next picture only cause about 2 seconds after it was snapped that car behind me got hit. Mid way down on the left side of the picture you can just see the shadow of another car. It backed into the black car and really messed up his fender. Just to show that were not wimps out here, we can ride in the snow. (Shot was carefully arranged to make sure you don't see people that were there in T-shirts having snowball fights. ) Coming back down the hill there was a pro taking pictures. Up early Sunday, still foggy. Skirted the eastern side of Camp Pendelton. The GPS did well except for one road that kept getting smaller until we were on a two lane dirt track. At that point we gave up and opted for a new route. Didn't take any pictures there, I was too busy worrying about dumping my bike. Came home on Ortega Highway. Saw quite a few sport bikes heading up there from Lake Elsinore but after the first couple of miles they turned back and we had no one in front of us for over 20 miles. Sweet! Always wish I would have taken more pictures but I hate stopping to take them so it probably won't change.

*West coast contingent report ride*
Hot off the press! Read all about it!
Good stuff Burgi. Good to see you're out and about. I love how you swirled your plate, very khool! That foggy picture should be entered into a photo contest! Really evokes a mood!
I wish we had some snow (on the SIDE of the road) over here! Its just spring, and I'm WAY TOO HOT! This will be an interesting summer for me!
I've been treated to some VERY nice riding over here by some gracious forum members, and am enjoying western riding A LOT!

Good pics, Burgi! That's a great ride and the weather last weekend was fantastic--pretty normal by southern California standards. The hills are all so green right now. We have to get out and enjoy it while we can. Next month they'll be brown again.

Thanks for the compliments guys. I gotta admit I have serious love for the Bonnie. So much so that at a demo event a few weeks ago I decided not to ride any other bikes since I couldn't see anything that could even near compare to what I have....that's never happened to me before. Where's the food and cows? I promise next time, just for you, I will make it happen! I've been treated to some VERY nice riding over here by some gracious forum members, and am enjoying western riding A LOT!
And pictures of these rides and riders are where?

I'd really enjoy riding my bike in Cali - I'm jealous. Great report.
Burgi - I'm noticing how low to the ground your Bonnie sits. Did you modify it to be that way? If you don't mind me asking, how tall are you?

You are welcome to come out and join us anytime. My Bonnie is an SE, new model in '09 that is lower than the T100 Bonnies. I didn't lower it, it has smaller mag wheels and a cut down seat stock which makes the seat height only 29". I am about 5'5" but only have a 29" inseam, so I just flat foot it. First bike I've owned that I can do that.

And pictures of these rides and riders are where? I've not yet taken the time to learn how to post pictures, but I'm gonna figure that out sometime soon. When I'm riding I always have a tough time making a Bunch of photo stops. For me, it kinda stops the flow of the ride, if you will. I need to start sharing some of the great scenery though! The rides back in Michigan aren't even in the same Galaxy, enjoyment wise.
