hey yall I picked up this steal of a deal 99 nighthawk with 16xxx miles a month ago for $750 ran a lil rough from sittin ina shed for 8 months, couple tears in the seat, broken turn signal stalks, but was ride able and too good of a deal to pass on...anyways on with the pics and a couple details on what I've done so far.
bringin her home!

cleaned and polished up

out on the first ride after tune up

Sooooo now that she was runnin good and all cleaned up it was time to address the seat tears and broken turn signals!
total cost for fixin all 3 is uhhhhh 5 bucks!
seat cover is a new army duffel bag with waterproof lining, shoulder straps unstiched to make enough material, then rewaterproofed, streached stapled and ziptied over seat cover and foam.
In process

done!

Next on the list was the rear turn signals cause they were worse than the front ones! In the process I decided the back mudflap, tagholder thing was ugly soooo I decided id flip the bracket, move it up about 4 inches movin the tag up enough i had to bend the corner to get to the key hole then chopped everything else off and reshape it
as well as removed the stalks and remount the stock turn signals then sand and paint it all gloss black to match! let the pics continue!
Back all nice tucked painted and pretty damned clean lookin!

side view

And back a lil to show off the army sticker too!

Rode it like that for a bit til the front ones started botherin me more and more and pulled the same stalk removal trick on them cost me 4 bucks for some washers just to space it out enough the lenses would go back on!

I am to later change the front ones out with a set of chrome bullets mounted to fork tubes or somethin but for uhhhh $800 i really don't think I could do much better!

Thanks for the pics, you've done a great job with her and all on budget!  I like the Army tatoo you added on your NH.  I just put a Navy one on mine.

you got a nice bike for low bucks congratulations. really like your turn signal mods, very creative and look good too. since you got a torn seat and a low purchace price that would be a good excuse for a corbin?

Thanks for all the feed back guys! Soon to be doin the exhaust and carb washer mods and will take pics. also lookin into the possibilities of puttin spoke rims off a shadow on and tryin to look into maybe a chrome front fender for those extra classic touches. Yes that is a 67 305 hawk in the back ground that me and my dad have been workin on also just helped a buddy pick up a 70 sl350 "scrambler"

Updates, did the exhaust mod and carb washer mod, I'm really happy with the way these turned out for the investment of uhhh 7 dollars with having to buy stainless steel rivets ! Def a noted performance difference though I'm still gonna do a dyno jet kit and look into doin open element air cleaners.Exhaust sounds a lil better but not trashy or retarded.

But so far the seat cover works absolutely awesome! Rode through 50 miles of pourin rain storm and no water logging of the seat!
