I've been banging around the idea of painting the inside portion of my '97 NH rims black to match my bike leaving the polished edge. Is there anyone out there that has seen this done or has done it to their bike? If so maybe some pics or ideas on type of paint and painting method to use. Thanks for the help! I don't want to destroy my rims..so this is a big step for me. -cs

I've seen it done it looks really good. I'm thinking about powder coting mine. You can run a nighthawk 750 search and get pictures. How much painting experience do you have?

Thanks Lindy,
Thats exactly the look i want. Now to figure out if there is any special paint or painting process. I know the paint will have to stand up to road abuse from dirt, grime, rocks..etc.

I decided to take the dive today and paint my rims since I already had to remove rear tire for sprocket replacement. Don't think it turned out too bad. Uploaded with ImageShack.us

I like the looks of painted wheels verses unpainted. Nice job.

Mine are all black now. Over the winter I'm going to paint the center a bright red to match the pin stripe on the tank, and the lip black.

Was it hard to get your engine to look like that as far as painting goes. I am interested in doing the same exact thing to mine. Any tips?

His engine came from the factory like that. '91-'95 750's had the silver engine. '96 and newer 750's had the blacked out engine with polished accents/covers. I prefer the black as well.
I like the painted rims, though. Luckylindy did the same to his bike and they look nice.

I have an '85 450 and looking to do the same, black with silver/chrome accents. Is there any where you can point me to on how to do it. Like could I plainly paint on the accents with a paint brush and high temp paint (after cleaning of course) or is there another way to do it thats better? Thank you. Btw, this forum is amazing.

Those silver accents aren't painted on - they're bare metal, where the paint has been stripped.
