Just found a brand new never worn Frogg Toggs suit on Craigslist. The lady called me tonight and I'm meeting her tomorrow. She purchased a mens medium and it wouldn't fit her so she is selling it to me for $25. Does anyone out there wear these for rain gear? I've heard nothing but good things and for that price I couldn't pass it up. Now I have almost everything I need for the Gap!

I bought a brand new set at Academy on sale for $30.00 (tan color). I have never ridden with it - frankly, I'd rather not ride in the rain. But I'm bringing it to the Rally and I guess we'll see.... or hopefully we won't see.

Very nice use of a smiley to express something other than its purpose.

I use Frogg Toggs for my rain gear. I have the standard type; I've heard they make a more sturdy version specifically for riding.
I've used mine 4-5 times since I started riding, about a year ago. They do keep me pretty dry. I'm just a little concerned how they'll hold up long-term to the wind. I also try not to let them get too close to the hot parts of the engine -- I don't know how quickly they might be damaged by heat.
I have the tan color too. Only downside to that is that when I'm fully outfitted, I look like a paper shopping bag.
Hey, for $25 you can hardly go wrong.

I can tell you, the frogg toggs don't stand up to the wind long term very well at all. Last year, I rode down to the gap, and one of the guys I was riding with had just bought a brand new set of these. It poured on us the whole way down (9hrs!), and was pretty windy. By the time we got there, his suit didn't look too good. The pants were basically shredded, and had melted on the exhaust, and the jacket wasn't in much better shape. Additionally, we were all soaked despite all having rain gear. Of course, 9hrs in the pouring rain is going to get you wet regardless. I'm not trying to say all 'toggs are going to be like that, I mean after all, it was just that one trip and that one particular suit. Hopefully you fair better.

Thanks CJ, It's always nice to have a negative for what to expect from a product. I don't plan on doing any combat touring in the Frogg Toggs, if I was I would just get it over with and buy an Aerostitch suit. But as it stands I just needed a light, packable, "oh crap there's a storm rolling in" rain suit. My Joe Rocket Jacket and pants are both highly water resistant and only leak a little bit. I figured with the Frogg Toggs over the Joe Rocket I would be good. On a side note I don't thing exhaust burns will be a problem as most of my stuff goes under the bike and out well behind my legs.

They will melt when exposed to enough heat. Melted my paints this past winter on the heater I keep in my boat blind. Same heater put where it's facing straight up is hot enough to cook shrimp. The bait here is THAT tempting.
I didn't notice that my leg was touching the heater while I drove the boat back to my buddies camp one day and melted the lower left leg. Still pack them with me though.
Even the Aerostitch suit will get wet if you ride in the rain long enough. I rode with a guy a few weeks ago that had one. Said he used to have an MP3 player until it got soaked riding in the rain for a full two days. Then he gave up on the music for touring. So even the one piece suites will get you wet if you ride in the rain long enough.

Again, I wasn't trying to be negative, I just wanted to mention that experience. It's definetely good to have just in case. I bought some Fieldsheer gear for myself this year, and it's supposed to be water resistant as well. I haven't had it in the rain yet, but I'm going to get a rainsuit anyway, just in case.
