Well, it is kind of a ride report.  My local Honda Shop is about 3 miles from my house, but I did ride to it.  They were having a vintage bike show and one of the employees there talked me into entering my 700s.

So the day before, I shined up the 'ole girl.

As you are about to see, I was way out of my league.  Here's a few pictures of the competition.  A Honda 150 from the '60's

Laminar, here's one you might enjoy.  a '77 cb750K.  9K on the odo, absolutely perfect in every way.

Here's a '76 CB750, again, absolutely flawless.  The guy that owns this one is currently restoring a '69 CB750 Sandcast.  Big bucks there.

Couple of nice looking Yami's there also - this one from 1975

And this 650 twin from 1980

Before this, I had never seen a Suzuki Water Buffalo before, let alone one if mint shape.  The owner of this bike rides it regularly.

Of course, the European models were represented as well.  A sharp BSA 750.

A Norton Commander - nice looking bike.

Triumph was there as well.

A Triumph Cafe' racer - this bike has won several national events according to its owner.

This is a '58 Harley 883 Cafe Racer, again with a documented racing history.  I helped the guy push start it (it's the only way to start it).  Took 2 tries, but only because the first try was in 1st gear (tire locked up).  On the 2nd try, it fired right up.  The owner of this bike said he has turned town $25K for it already.

A nice time.

Loki met me over there and we shot the bull for a while.  The weather was turning bad, so we left before the judging was over.  On the way out, we met Spiritof86 pulling in.  I said hello, but did not stay from fear of getting caught in the rain.

Quite a few people talked to me about my bike.  It was kind of cool, but most of those bikes are not ridden and that's just not my cup of tea.  If I can't ride it, I don't want it.

What a cool event, I think your bike is a classic and belongs with those others.  It would be my first pick from that grouping.

Very Cool!  It's great to see these old bikes still kickin.

But I agree with you about not wanting something you don't ride.  biker_h4h1

If you would have stuck around you could have given the froggy rainsuit a tryout....
Let's hope you won't need it for the Gap.

Nice report and pics hppants. I may be a little bias but I think your bike was the nicest bike in the show.  thumb

I'm surprised you had the energy to write a little report after that long ride you took.  poke

Thanks for sharing.

Your 700 definitely belongs there(and gets extra points for being ridden regularly).  Great looking collection.

Thanks for the compliments, friends.  The Honda shop employee told me that this was the best show he's ever had because of the variety of bikes that participated.  There were many others I did not photograph - couple of Indians, a Yami TX125 on/off that was real nice, couple of Honda 305 Dreams, an '84 Shawdow 500 (pretty rough shape), even a Simplex Delivery Bike from the '40s.

I'll probably try it out at some point this weekend.  Not looking forward to that.  Loki said he will hold my hand...  wacko

Great pics. Looks like alot of fun. It is a shame to see so many nice bikes that don't get ridden. At least you're not one of those "collectors".

Yeah, If I'm going to pay that much for a bike, I'm going ride it a lot.  I like the paint scheme on the Suzuki.

Nice pics. I love looking at those old bikes. There was a local vintage show 2 years ago that was supposed to be the first annual, however the second annual show never happened. I wanted to enter my '81 XS400 but the bikes had to be at least 30 years old to enter.  mad1

Great pics man! I love vintage bikes like that. I wish we had more events around my area like that. Actually, I wish we had anything like that. Period.
