For those of you that like ride reports maybe this will hold you 'til the Deals Gap reports start coming in.  I live about 100 miles from Talimena Drive ( http://www.talimenascenicdrive.com/ ) 54 miles of mountainous bliss.  Try to get up a few times a year and everytime I do I think why don't I come here more often.  After our 100 miles to get there it was mid-day  (and only 71*) so we ate in the lodge.

You can look out to the valley 3,000 feet below while pigging out.  On to the fun.

I usually ride pretty easy but the roads up here make my 'hawk want to fly.

My riding bud Ray looking out at Oklahoma.

On the way home we descended from the cool of the Ouachita Mts. and it started heating up.  We thought about wading into Broken Bow lake to cool ourselves for the rest of the trip.  Finished the 260 mile ride in 90* heat.

Nice photos, I really like the action shot of the Hawk taking a curve.

Yea John, that's a VTX 1300.  He takes the curves fairly fast on that beast.

If I lived around all those beautiful lakes and rivers I'd be packing my pocket fisherman pole.

Fresh fish is a good thing. I'm guessing this is you in this video, about halfway through, casting off the bank dressed in blue?  giggle

I know us old folks remember the 70's commercials for all the Popeil products.  I can't believe that guy is still around.

That sounds like a winner.  The roads in AR/OK are awesome.
Wish I could have been at Deals Gap but Talimena scratched my riding itch.

It's way too easy for me to put the bike in the back of my truck.  That's what I'll do.

OK L/L - your up.  Pick a weekend and I'll start plotting.

Yeah but the bike gets better MPG and would be more fun to drive!

I've always wanted to visit Mena, Arkansas.  If I stayed there, how does that fit into this?

That would fit better with my plan,go up a day early(8 hour ride on backroads) Get a good rest at the Sun Country Inn,ride the Talimena all day, rest up again, then ride home.

HP-Mena is right in the middle of all the good roads there and the TM Drive begins its 54 mile twisty path into OK in Mena.  Let's do it.

I'll show cards first.  I'd rather June 26th.  I'm thinking I could leave in the morning of the 25th - I can be there in about 6 hours.  We can ride Friday PM (if ya'll are there) and Saturday 26th.  I can go home on Sunday (or even Monday).

Your thoughts?
