Bought this bike last week and after getting it looked over and a new tire put on I made the 8 hour ride from college to home and back to have my parents check it out. My dad fell in love with the bike and offered to buy it from me, I had to decline though. We changed the oil, filter, added more break/clutch fluid, and gave it a nice cleaning. I am happy with how its looking. A couple of things on my to-do list include: -New front blinkers. They are just taped on, seems like a lot of people run into this issue when buying a used bike. Would like to find some blinkers to match the aftermarket ones in the back -Reupholster the seat, right now its duct taped over a tear. Good winter project to get that done I'm thinking. -Possibly get a windshield if I make the ride home more often. -Replace the nonworking horns. Any advice, suggestions, anything is much appreciated!

Nice! Spray painting the rusty bologna slices in the exhaust with some hi-temp flat black paint will do wonders. While you at it, use the same paint on your center and side stands - it will clean it up nicely.

Looks great! Almost identical to mine. There's some good threads on here to address each of your potential projects. Have a blast and stay safe.

Congratulations on the bike, looks to be in decent shape. You can check out bikebandit.com for signals, I know they have some similar to stock but I don't about matching the rears on your bike. Also National Cycle has a lot of good options for shields, I use the Street Shield on my 650. Big enough to redirect the wind but it doesn't overwhelm the bike.

1st off, ! 2nd, that's a sweet bike! Where are you located? Also, I couldn't help but notice in the second to last pic, that the tac is reading 2500 rpm, but the key is not in the bike?

I am originally from Northwest Iowa, but bought the bike in Eastern Iowa since I am here for school. And good eye about the RPM gauge. I am not sure what the problem is with that. It was working just fine, but sometime this weekend it got stuck at 2500 rpm. I generally shift by feel/sound so I wasn't going to worry about it, but if its an easy fix let me know.

Well, the tach is electronically driven. So you're probably going to have to take the gauge cluster apart and investigate. It could be that the needle just needs re-aligned, but it could be something else.

Also, I don't know if you have a repair manual for the bike or not, but you should look into it if you don't. The recommended literature is the official Honda shop manual, but they can be hard to come by. If you can't find one, I'll give you my clymers manual that got me through a lot. Some sections aren't as detailed as the official Honda manual, but it's pretty good for most things.

MY '83 650 in Siren Blue. With Spitfire windshield. Just painted the insides of exhaust and middle stand (not painted in pic). Really makes the rest of the black parts pop!! They sure are beautiful bikes. Wanted one in highschool, but had to wait until i was married with children before i got her back. Really enjoy riding this little zipper!!!
