I had a hard time figuring out what to do with my helmet when making quick stops for cigs and such. Normally I would just leave the helmet on the mirror unlocked. I don't live in the honest town known to man so I wouldn't have been surprised to come out one time and see it gone. Luckily now I put a rack and a locking trunk on my hawk. One less thing to worry about.

I like reading this the idea of coming out of the shop to find my lid full of rain is funny!

But here's what I do.

At home the lid comes in with me, i dont live in a nice area the little gits will nick anything not nailed down.
At work I have a very secure underground car/bike park you need a swipe card to get in and its CCTV I normally leave the lid on the bike but at the mo there are lots of builders about so I bring it to my desk.

When going shopping or pubs/restaurants with friends I take it in with me carrying it sucks especially when going shopping but I take a sports bag or rucksack and put the lid in the bag untill i get to the checkout.

That first lid lock in the first post is a good one my mate uses one just like it he got from ebay and its pretty safe.  Could be opened with a strong screwdriver if you pry it open but if they are going to nick it they will.

Ive been looking at maybe getting one or using the under seat lock more but havent yet.
