I was out scootin around today and it was HOT at around 2 pm so i decided to stop under a parking garage at a building i never been to and while there i noticed a couple dead baby birds and their mother too (dead) , started drinking my red bull and lit up a cig , while i was doing that something caught my eye , it was a little fur ball from the same family and alive there in one of the parking spaces , as i got close to it the little bugger looked up at me and opened it's mouth as if i was the parent bringing food so i walked a little while further into the parking spaces and then there was another little fur ball ...both barely able to walk and completely alone , (i didn't know what to do ) Should i leave hem there to die or take them home ...So i put them into my tank bag and rode on home leaving the front of the bag open for them to get plenty of air , so now i'm a parent (it's not an easy job ya know) and feed them every hour , also made them a little make shift nest and they seam to like it , i named them Louis and Clark since they were out exploring at the same time i was ..Anywho i didn't have the camera at the time so i took some pics of the little buggers at home ...(i don't know what species they are but any life worth saving is a life worth saving)

I'd call around to see if there is a nature animal rescue- those chicks will need lots of care.

Good for you Hankster!

I thought about that but it's memorial day weekend and most places are closed , i feed them every chance i get , Louis is a eating and poopin machine but i'm a little worried about Clark, he doesn't want to eat anywhere near as Louis , i'd like to get them both to flight training day so i'll look around some more for a place qualified for this but for now i check on them every 30 min or so and feed / change the bedding 'n all

Not worried about that Meister the mom and the other 2 chicks looked like they were run over by cars ...They are both doing real good now and even ask for food when they are hungry and since it's so stinkin humid out there i'm not bothering riding so i watched over them all day so far and fed them 7 times since this morning ...Wen't to the local bait shop and got some nightcrawlers , i cut them up in smaller chunks and use a pair of tweezers to mimic a birds beak and they eat like you wouldn't belive (also poop the same )  Hap1

Dude...that's cool. Could you tell from the mother's body what kind of birds they are?

Are you ready to give them to a rescue, or will you have two wild birds in your house? thumb

I think i'll take care of them till training day and once they learn to fly they'll be on their own  thumb

BTW the mothers body was pretty badly decomposing so i'm not sure what they are but it doesn't make a difference (a life is a life)

You're the MAN Hangster....The new Jeff Corwin of the animal world!

Maybe they are Nighthawks.... scratcher

You might have to run in circles flapping your arms so they catch on to the concept of flight, otherwise they will just sit there and want worms their whole life.

Or maybe take them up for a little hang gliding lesson, one in each shirt pocket....

So you didn't share the Red Bull?  Because I believe they would taken to flight immediately with their new 'wings.'

There is no way I would be playing mama bird, so they're lucky you found them.  Birds creep me out.

Well, how are the little ones?

Living in a parking garage, I'd guess sparrows?

In that case be glad you don't live in Australia , the Magpies are fearless when it comes to protecting their young

Here's the update on the little buggers , Louis was sound asleep during the vid but he got up once the feeding started and got his share , i went into the garden and dug up grubs and beatles and crawlers for them to have a good variety of food so they had a good buffet and there's plenty left for tomorrow morning too ...they also get plenty of water , just poked a hole in a bottle cap to give them drip by drip and they drink it up (maybe tomorrow i'll do a feeding vid)

Sheesh, I know the Nighthawkers are a frugal group, but honestly, "pick-your-own" pets?
