I stripped the bike down to the bare essentials, repainted the engine and polished the covers, and painted the tank / fender / tail piece. The carbs also got a thorough cleaning while I was at it. before: after: the paint is Nissan 350z Sunset Orange It's night time and I couldn't really get some good outdoor pictures, I'll have them tomorrow afternoon after work. here's what the paint looks like during the daytime: It's been a month of working on it in between balancing two jobs and the girlfriend... but its finally back together!

I've seen that color on the 350Z and it is beautiful. Looks real nice with black aftermarket rims. A good choice for a NH. Surely this was not a rattle can job?

How's your fingers from polishing the valve cover? It looks great, did you clear coat it? I'm about ready to prep my plastics for painting but I'm still now sure if I should take them down to plastic or just sand them up a little.
Looking good!!!

The tank isn't quite up to par with the side covers and rear fender (I ran out of clear coat, it only has one coat as of right now) but overall I was really happy with it
*photobucket is down right now, for me at least, when it starts working I'll upload them*

thanks, I didn't take mine all the way down to the plastic and they came out great. 400 grit on orbital sander, 600 grit hand sanded, 1000 grit hand sanded, then painted. I did three coats of color, and 3-4 coats of clear.

Just curious, how are you handling the dust and small debris while clear coating? I am in the process now of clear coating my spare tank and this is a huge challenge since I don't have a paint booth.

Carboard box with a little exhaust fan in the back and something that spins to put the part on. That's how Red Green does it, with duct tape of course. An hour long special on crank bearings just aired, old Red was highly informative.

Nothing special, I don't have a booth either. I just hung everything from the roof outside and painted immediately after washing the parts. Airborne particles though... It's not perfect, but good looking nonetheless. PICTURES!!!!
