Here are a couple of pics of my '84 CB700 Nighthawk. I bought it with a blown engine and replaced the engine with an '86 model. I then added new Pirelli Sport Demon tires and ordered a seat cover and installed it. I wanted something a little different in the paint dept. since it was a metallic charcoal gray with some chips and wear when I got it. I went with a low gloss black and I am happy with how it came out. Looks like an old hot rod which is what I was going for. I know some won't like it saying I should've stuck with factory colors and all but that's o.k. These were taken with my phone so they aren't that great but I will get some more soon. The one is without mirrors and windscreen.

Your bike looks great  thumb  thumb . And your right some people would prefer the factory colors (I would). But what matters is what you like. Looks great and nice job saving another nighthawk from the scrap yard.

Great looking bike 84cb700scdlb  thumb

I like that low gloss look. The polished metal on the wheels and the blacked out engine make it look awesome.

2 questions:

- How did you find installing the 86 engine? How does it run?

- Where are you located?

P.s. Bonus question:

- Did the 86 engine come from a parts bike or on its own?

Thanks for the compliments, this is my first bike and I like to be a little different. All my buddies have newer bikes but they all like to check mine out when they get a chance. The engine wasn't hard to install, the original engine was already removed and all the bolts and brackets were labeled or loosely bolted back where they went. The '86 didn't come with a parts bike only the engine, runs good so far only put about 150 miles on it since putting it back together. I did get a shop manual with the bike so it was a big help. I am located in Blytheville, Arkansas.

I think the bike looks great too. thumb  Flat black is my favorite color. It does look hot rodded so, kudos on the bike. It could use some hot rod pin stripes to finish it off IMO.

Well, I'd recommend holding onto that blown 84 engine. Even though it is blown, some of the parts off it are handy to hold on to.

Thanks everyone, on the pinstripes I was actually thinking of going to a shop here in town that does graphics and having the Honda wings put on the tank in either flat or gloss black, kinda like "ghost wings" instead of flames also maybe a nighthawk or something on the side covers. I am hanging on to the engine in case someone or I need something off of it.

I'm not a big fan of flames either I just meant "ghost wings" instead of "ghost flames". Where they kind of blend in but when you notice they are there you'll be like cool, look at those wings on the tank. The bike has just a little sheen so I was thinking of going with the flat black.

Yeah that would be cool...

P.S. I noticed in the top pic, the wind screen and mirrors are missing. But they are there in the bottom pic??

There is just something very cool about a blacked out bike.

The top pic is right after putting it back together and I hadn't put the mirrors and windscreen back on yet, it was getting dark. The second pick is the next day. SirSeanSean, so far the tires feel good, probably just now getting broken in.
