Serena and I are going to be gone for two weeks this Saturday so I thought I would go for a ride a deliver a card and treat to my Dad for an early Father's Day.

I opened the garage door and to my surprise this was peeking out...

"C'mon, you used to ride that Reflex all over the place, bout time I went out for a long spin" said Scratchy.

So off we went for a leisurely afternoon ride through Wisconsin back highways.  But before we could get to the bucolic vistas like these...

The Grand Vista overlooking the vista.

We had to make our way through the city.

A city full of booze!

and Drugs!

And hookers selling booze and drugs!!

We made it through all that and off to the quiet country highway.

Swampy.

No one in front of us...

and nobody behind us, very quiet.

I found this very old and gnarled tree.

I had to assure them that the seat was made of vinyl.

hmmmm... I think that cornering speed is just a suggestion.

The expressway above bypasses all these cool old roads.

Like this curvy gem of a road.

Which leads us here, to pick up the treat for my Dad.

A delicious apple crisp baked in a brown paper bag, an Elegant Farmer Specialty.  Hope Dad shares with me!

The convenience of scootering, fit an entire pie under the seat!

After dropping off the treat and card and chatting it up with my Dad it was time to hit the road.  I thought I would scoot around my old neighborhood and check out the sites.

Here is Potter's Lake.  Used to be an old mud hole and as kids we called it Potter's Pee Hole because it was weedy, muddy and smelly.

Stone School, where I went to primary school.  It literally used to be a one room schoolhouse.  Now it is a craft school.

An old barn on the edge of my old neighborhood.

The corn is about kneed high right now.

My favorite pic of the day.

The total trip was about seventy miles and the scoot handled like a champ.  It took me a bit to get used to the shorter wheelbase and quicker turning but it made some of the twisty roads a lot of fun.  The scoot hasn't had a run like this in two years and I had no problems with the bike at all except at initial start-up.  I've been away from scoots so long I had left the side stand down which acts as a kill switch.  I skulked around for about fifteen minutes thinking I had to put the battery on the charger.  After I lifted the side stand she fired up first try.

I hung around long enough to guilt Dad into sharing... he even threw in some ice cream.

When's the next chapter of HawkMan?

I was hoping it would be my Lake Michigan loop but I may have to put that off until August or September.  My wife and I are leaving for Argentina this Saturday.

Great report, Fishball. That pie looked goooood. I may have to take a ride up there myself for one.  drooler

When you come up let me know!  By the way what's with the new avatar, didn't you just change that to the Bandit earlier today?

Wild Wisconsin with all the hookers, booze, and drugs.

And you thought it was just cheese and Packer games up here!

Well???  how was the pie??  drooler  drooler

Excellent, it was made fresh that day.

Man that scooter trash is everywhere! giggle

Yeah, scooter trash attracts the best looking hookers.

Hap1 Motorcyclists are dangerous on scooters. Hope you didn't forget and try to grab the clutch.  poke

Yeah Fish, I figured since I'm on a Honda site, I should at least have a Honda as my avatar.  happy1

I'm going to find some "decent" pics of the NH so I can use that until its done. Love my Bandit but, I gotta represent for the Honda crowd.  rayof

The roads were a cool discovery.  I didn't know about these particular routes until I decided to just wing-it and take some chances.  I actually got lost for a bit but no worries, the scoot has tremendous range and if you travel far enough in one direction you are bound to find a town.

I know... I kept telling myself before I hopped on that there is no clutch, only brakes.  The scoot is my wife's, it is a KYMCO Grand Vista.  It's nickname is Scratchy because it fell over about three times on low speed maneuvers.

And thanks for that knee high reference, I was riding for miles trying to think of that old saying.

Nice ride report.

My scoot had a clutch. 85 Vespa P200.  drooler I like the old ones.

The left grip is the shifter. Rotate forward one for first and back for the other 3 gears. Clutch is the same and even has a foot activated back brake.

I miss the old girl sometimes. Not when I'm riding the Nighthawk but....OK I don't miss her that much. I did have it tuned a bit. Probably a bit too much. Became very unreliable. I don't know why. ALL I did was put a 210 conversion jug and piston, ported (by hand) to match, cut back the intake scoop, installed 10% overdrive main gear, racing springs on the clutch, 30mm side mount carburetor (no oil pump, had to premix), and an expansion exhaust. Scary fast for 10" wheels. Last thing to break was the clutch spring covers. One spring blew right through it sending shards of metal throughout the engine.

Delafield Smiley Barn!

I know the Delafield Smile Barn, it's on HWY 83 just off of I-94.  This is a different one on HWY ES, just south of Mukwonago, it's the Elegant Farmer.
