I gather it was the european nighthawk. It has dual disc front brakes and disc back brakes. Other than that looks the same to me.

Here is a free repair manual for it. Looks useful for our CB750.

Yeah the "Seven Fifty" was MUCH more tricked out than the US versions.

Soupy is correct the SevenFifty was one sweet machine...every thing you could possibly want in the last gen NH.  Unfortunately by law such a sweet bike could not be brought to the U.S. Sad  But I do know some made it over...and I bet you couldn't trade your first born for one! rollinglaugh

The dual disks in front and the reservoir shocks on the back are a dead giveaway.  The tank has a different shape and the bodywork is also a bit different.   Here's the 2008 model :

I wonder why they do not sell it stateside? It is a good looking machine and fixes the main deficits of brakes and suspension folks gross about.

I am positive there are guys out there like me that would buy a nighthawk still. My decision processes were

1. goldilock not too big, not too little, not too heavy, not too light, not too fast, not too slow

2. standard riding. doesn't twist you like a pretzel like a crotch rocket, doesn't make you stretch arms and legs and sit on your tailbone like a cruiser. JDM good all around bike. Totally subjective but image wise it suits me. I don't fit in with the kids and will not get into all the matching suits and paraphernalia of the sports bike world. I'm too good looking and slim to ride a hog plus that half helmet wife beater no gear mentality is too irresponsible for me.

3. All that mealy mouth mush about it being boring appeals to me greatly. At 51 and just getting back into riding I WANT a dependable predictable not pushing the red zone vehicle.

What bike available on the u.s. market comes closest to this F2?

That was great! Hap1

There are a few.  The Kawasaki Versys, ER-6N, Suzuki SV650, Moto Guzzi V7 Classic, Honda NT700, Ducati Sport Classic GT, Triumph Bonneville, Yamaha FZ1 or FZ6.  If you don't mind full fairings you can toss in the Ninja 650r, Yamaha FZ6r, Suzuki GSX650F, BMW F800ST.

I don't think the Sevenfifty is sold here for the same reason they dicontinued the CB1000.  They won't move enough units to justify the importing.  Even though we have made great leaps forward in the naked bike department, they still just don't sell.  Unfortunately the 18-25 year old demographic which you have to admit is their target likes the "super awesome racebike" and "who cares how reliable it is cause I'm gonna wreck it in a week / dad's gonna buy me a new one!".  I know it sucks that we don't get the good bikes, but as a country we have sorta done it to ourselves... banghead

I guess me and you Ari just got lucky!  super   If I ever see another 1000 for sale, I'm buying it just to have an extra! LOL. If they would bring the 750 over, I'd jump on it in a heartbeat.

In regards to the racebike comment, lol, I refuse to buy anykind of used sport bike in my area just for the fact I've seen the way most of the people (mostly young "squids") ride the poor things. I've had dealers try to sell me 2 year old crotch rockets, granted that were beautiful bikes, that had only a couple thousand miles on em.....but when I'd hop on and test ride the things, it would feel like it was about to fall to pieces.
